Breakthru Amiga - Released!

Hello!

Another new arcade port to add to the ever growing list.

There will likely be updates, especially in relation to the audio, also looking at the possibility of a specific CD32 version.

Breakthru was originally released by Data East in 1986. It is a horizontal shooter, controlling the player across varied landscapes to recover a stolen aircraft.

Available now at itch.io

https://acidbottle.itch.io/breakthru

Good luck pilot!

I made a glowicon and igame.iff for iGame users.
Instructions are included, but here these are:

1. extract or mount ADF file
2. copy savedata in Data dir
3. copy cartridge.se in Data dir
4. copy breakthru-ami.exe in Data dir and rename it as "load_whd"
so you have a Data dir with following files:

/Data
/Data/savedata
/Data/cartridge.se
/Data/load_whd

4. NOVBRMOVE tooltype used for 68060 CPUs

Enjoy !

P.S. this version uses a standard Scorpion Engine WHDLoader 2022 by PixelGlass Earok, JOTD, Wepl

Awesome! Donated and downloaded it, nice work! This reminds me slightly of the NES game Jackal, which is my favorite game for the platform.

Cheers all for the comments, any issues let me know

@stx2199: There should be no sound fx at all! Reason being there was some audio hiccups with the sfx implemented. Hope to fix this issue in an update so will have both music and sfx eventually.

edit: hmm actually I know what's happened with the audio, my fault. The music cut off issue I have, with sfx enabled, is still there as my code still has the sfx attached to the fire commands. Rookie error, apologies and will be fixed in a future update.

I knew this suggestion would pop up! I will certainly look into this for a future update. It may not be the spacebar as this key could take quite a hammering, but as an option for you poor sods with 1 button still, will see.

An issue has crept up where the game froze after a fair length of time. If this does happen to you then apologies, am looking for the cause and will be fixed asap. To help, if this happens to you please let me know exactly what the player was doing at the time. Appreciated!

great game, great music.

Just sent official whdload install to whdload site. Works without NOVBRMOVE. I'll update if a version with sfx is released.

Many thanks jotd for compiling a slave for this

A new version is indeed in the works, fixes and changes a few bits and pieces. Will let you know when it's going live, hopefully later this week.
