Escom A1200 & Modified PC Drives

Ok...long story so I'll try not to ramble and make this easy (but probably fail) <Elevator Pitch Mode>..

-I bought a bunch of amiga stuff, including a ESCOM A1200 + apollo 030 and A600.

-ESCOM A1200 wouldn't play some games from disk e.g. floppy version of Xenon 2
-A600 from same bunch of stuff would quite happily work with same XENON 2 floppy.
-Assumed it was ESCOM floppy bollocks related...
- Looked at mods required to undo ESCOM bodges to return to "normal" but they were already done, both motherboard and panasonic drive (looked like factory changes)

-Sourced a chinon fz345 cleaned the cat hair out of it and put it in the A1200....happy days all is working.

-I've omitted lots of guff...but basically I ended up with lots of PC drives, including a what appears to be an A1200 ESCOM factory modded Panasonic.
I have converted 1 other Mitsumi drive to Amiga with the soldering iron but whilst it will happily read Amiga Dos disks and load workbench, Xenon 2 and whatever copy protection / disk access method it uses is a no go. So it is still not a "happy" amiga drive.

TLDR:
Can converted PC floppy drives read all Amiga game disks....like Xenon 2 with whatever copy protection it uses.

In short, yes. At least I had converted an Sony MPF920 to an Amiga and had no issues. Mind you, even the Sony have so many revisions that some mods are more tricky and results may not be across the board.

Actually I was wrong the Mitumi appears to be just flakey with any disk, it came in a job lot so no idea if it worked prior to mod.

Just converted an MPF520 and a MPF920, they seem to be ok, but there does seem to be a varience across different drives and copy protection, I mangaed to dig up this thread:
