Blue Boy (Micromania)

Dear friends,

I am looking for a working release of Blu Boy. You are some kind of superhero and have to shoot aliens before they capture people from the streets. Nice fun game.
However, all adfs I've found (Tosec) crash before the boss-stage of level 2. I tried all kinds of configurations in WinUAE (including A500 quick-start).
There is a full playthrough-video on youtube. So there must be a working version out there.

Does somebody have a fully working image?

Seems the crash is not a real crash, but part of a manual protection. You need to press one of the F-Keys. If you hit the wrog one the game crashes, if you hit the right one the game continues.

It's a very rare game. Haven't found a single image of the box let alone the manual online

Wow, can you upload it for the community?
It's very easy to cheat in that game (using CheanEngine), so a playthrough should be possible. I am looking forward to see if there are more manual checks in the original version.

Manual on HOL, and ADF from the original in the zone.

EDIT : maybe we can ask Ross to have a look, the NMS crack says the game was protected and the ADF i upped is different, so i don't know :/

Thank you soooo much for this. Stragely the manual doesn't mention anything about that strange protection.

This is strange. Some other friends reported that, too. While others had the same issues (on emulation and on real Amigas).

The issue is at ecactly 10:01 in the video. [ Show youtube player ]

It's the exact moment when the screen turns almost completely black and only a small piece of a picture (that somehow looks like a jigsaw-puzzle tile) is displayed.

You have to hit an F-Key to continue. If you hit a wrong one, the game crashes

i made a fast try with the 3 versions on the Tosec, all based on the same NMS crack

confirmed crash in Guru at the image password check, emulating an A500 512k

the adf uploaded by Denis into the Zone also has the image password check at the end of stage2 zone2 (before bossfight)
so i think the NMS version was just uncracked

There is a problem my contributor told me that the game has no protection codes, grid or image given for that.

Or it's the game box ??

At least on WinUAE is is not such a big problem. We can use a safestate and then just go for it. It seems only F1 to F5 are used, so you have a fair chance to be able to continue playing after a few attempts.

But as I said, help (real help and not a workaround) might be here soon.

But of course, a complete packaging would be the very best. Could it be that a publisher forgot to include protection codes? That would be a new one in the game history... All speculation now, of course.

ah thats bizarre indeed
maybe some face splitted in virtual squares in the game box?
i have already seen the upper part of an head (hair), iirc center part with sunglasses...

it should also have the correct F1,F2,F3 association;
i dont know how many function keys are enabled for the check

EDIT what about the back of the instruction leaflet?
