ASM-Pro memory issue
Hi
I'm watching Phaze 101's excellent Amiga Programming course on Youtube. To follow along I've installed ASM-Pro but I'm having problems with chip/fast/public memory. When ASM-Pro loads it gives you the option to set the memory size, a sliding bar etc. Except I don't seem to have this full functionality. I've tried installing Asm-pro on winuae and on my A1200 / '040, but this functionality doesn't seem to work properly. Does anybody know of any easy solution? thanks ![]() Last edited by Toki; 18 December 2021 at 10:34. Reason: spelling |

What version are you using? Do you have reqtools.library installed?
Otherwise see if Assembler (from the menu) -> Preferences -> Environment -> General Parameters -> Show startup win. is unchecked |

ASM-Pro will remember your last allocation and it won't ask you again if you disable startup window. Type ! and select restart to start over, which also includes memory allocation.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm using version 1.18. I went into preferences and ticked the "parametres" box. I'not sure it's made any difference. When I restart the window pops up saing that Workspace memory is 2047 kb, Chip memory is 2047 and Fastmem is 0. It doesn't let me increase them. Once it loads, I am able to type "=m" and add memory. When I type in 3000000kb it responds to say Workspace is now 2096128 kb. So maybe it's all fine and that's all the memory I need??? |

Not 100% sure what you mean.
When I start AsmPro v. 1.18 it looks like this (after selecting screen mode): (Note: It seems to max out at 32MB even though I have 128MB configured here). Are you seeing something different? I'm assuming you actually have fast ram configured/available. 3000000kb for workspace seems a bit excessive ![]() |

Don't think so. FWIW I use v1.17 since I ran into some issues with 1.18 a few years ago that I don't remember now, and I didn't need the changes. I mostly crosscompile/assemble though, and only use AsmPro (or AsmOne for 68000 only stuff) when timing/tweaking. |

Hi
Yes the popup screen on my A1200 /040 now does look like your screenshot, which is good. But Winuae still has the problems I previously mentioned. Yes I've got Fastram. I'll have a tweak with it though. |

Turns out I didn't have any Fastram in Winuae!
Just shows the solution to most things is often the most obvious. The pop up window now shows I have Fastram! Thanks for your help. |
