Well, if the joypad you want to use is plugged in the USB port (one of those plug-and-play controllers, like Thrustmaster), WinUAE won't recognize it. Try WinFellow, it recognizes USB joypads.
Only controllers that can be calibrated through the 'Gaming Options' option in 'Control Panel' are recognized by WinUAE. I hope this helps. |

Really?
Did you have it configured before installing WinUAE on your computer? Does it show up in the 'Gaming Options' section? What brand is it? You see, I have a USB controller and a regular one. But the regular one (4-button gamepad, kinda old) doesn't work well and the Thrustmaster isn't recognized. (WinFellow recognizes it, though.) |

I have a Saitek P2000 joypad (USB) that gets picked up fine with WinUAE.
As far as I am aware, WinUAE works with anything that shows up in the "Game Controlers" control panel applet, which should be any gaming devices, not just manual ones. |

The joypad I have works like this: you plug it in the USB port, put in the Operating System CD (in my case, Windows '98) and that's it. It's not present in the 'Game Controllers' applet.
Of course, as is always the case with these damn PC accessories, it doesn't work with half of the games. But the Thrustmaster is a great joypad, I'm glad I bought it. Perhaps CC100's joypad is something similar to mine. That's why I suggested WinFellow. |

Depends on the OS. 98 and such are old and aren't particually good when it comes to device integration and suck. It sounds more like it is using a hack for it to work rather than it being installed properly to be honest.

You're probably right about the device integration. (Actually, maybe I'll try the Thrustmaster with WinUAE on my father's computer -- he has Windows Me).
I don't know if it uses a hack or not, and I don't really care. It works flawlessly in the applications that recognize it. I don't want to update to a newer Windows, because Windows '98 is the last one with DOS. And I prefer older games. I know there's DOSBox, but still, a real DOS is better... |

Actually there isn't DOS at all, that is just a command prompt for text commands.
You could dual boot you know... |

What do you mean by "dual boot"?

I use a psx-to-usb adapter and it works fine with WinUAE (with other emulators such as Mame or Kawaks as well). It is automatically setup by Windows XP as soon as it is plugged, recognized as a standard usb paddle with a lot of buttons.
When I bought it, I already used WinUAE, the emulator just recognized it as soon as it was plugged without the need to reinstall anything. |

abelthorne: My Thrustmaster works fine with MAME and Kawaks, too, but not with WinUAE.
bippym: A month ago, I would have bought a Sidewinder, based on anyone's word that it works in WinUAE. But now, if WinFellow recognizes the Thrustmaster, I'll just play the games that need very tight control in WinFellow. Enverex: Ah, yes, but how? Can I do it myself? Is there an advantage to installing XP on a 1999, Pentium II, 433 MHz computer? |

So, I assume that, if it shows up in the 'Game Controllers' applet, it's recognized by WinUAE. If not, not.
Can anyone infirm this? |

To dual boot, you install the older Operating system (i.e. 98) and then install the new one to either another folder/partition/drive and it will list the options at boot (though only 2000/XP/2003 do this). |

Thanks for telling me about this.
Oh, and I went to your site today and downloaded the .rar archive with the UAE configurations for different games. Great stuff, man! (Will they still work for the new version of WinUAE?) |
