Desperately seeking..... DOpus 5!
Does anyone know where I can get it?
5.5 would be best, but I'd settle for bogstandard 5, as I have the updates to .11 I have 4, but I much prefer 5. Thanks JD |

Is DOpus 5.5 still for sale... if so please remove from Zone or PM me and i will do it
If you need to buy DOpus, then amigakit.com supplied it on my A1200 so they must be able to supply on disk I didnt know that my purchase of my A1200 which it was installed on included buying the license for DOpus (it could be a trial, i have never used it).. i thought it must be freeware/shareware now my apologies if i have broken the rules |

yeah, i did a quick search for a link to the disks and found that the gpsoft site was (very) out of date... when i found that i searched my collection, found it and simply upped to the Zone
after reading the above... i have searched my collection for other versions of DOpus and found loads... if memory serves, there is a free version... if anyone can remember which one that is i can up that instead! |

Directory Opus (various versions including 5.0) is also on the file server (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=43633) in the folder 'TOSEC/Applications/[ADF]'. If it turns out that 5.5 is still for sale we would have to remove it though.

Doubt it, it was given free on Aminet CD 31 - but a German version. |

The last free version is probably 4.x which was released under the GPL. I doubt there are any "Free" releases of 5 since 5.8 is still available for purchase... Even if not widely publicised.

Hi Guys
well, this has set something off! Okay, I have the freely available version of DOpus4, but as I said, I was after 5.5 I did a comprehensive Google search over a period of several days and checked both Amigakit (of whom I am a customer) and gpsoft, but found no mention of v5 - hence ending up here and asking. I don't like the Magellan 'upgrade' and so whether that is still payware is irrelevant in my case. I do own the DOpus v5.11 that was given away on a coverdisk of CU Amiga in the late 90's, too, but I was quite prepared to pay for 5.5, as it is my favourite. I wasn't just after a 'freebee' or 'gold' version Whilst we're on the subject, though - I have just bought an Amiga CD from a trader on ebay who shows the kosher cover in their 'shop', but sends an obvious pirate copy when you buy it. It has thousands of games and ROMs for C64 and Speccy on it, too. I was pretty angry at this and intended popping down to trading standards with the details (as ebay did nothing when I notified them and the item is still 'relisted' - so the trader is using ebay to sell illegally). Is it actually worth reporting? Or will they just just either shrug it off or try and say it's not their responsibility? TiA JD PS - I know this goes on all the time now, but doing this so blatantly and apparently with the full knowledge and acceptance of ebay admin is criminal in itself, imo. PPS: I have now purchased a legal DOpus 5.5 with manual Last edited by JohnnyD; 15 May 2010 at 12:28. |

Obviously no opinions on that (which tells it's own story, methinks ).
Anyway - a week ago I was stumped, now I'm pretty much spoilt for choice: ...and now that my DPaint and Basic manual have arrived, too, I'm going to be a very busy boy! btw Opus 5.11 was also on Aminet CD 4. JD |

You can always buy for less than $11, issue 81 of Amiga Future magazine. Which comes with a very nice cdrom with Dopus 5.5

It's installed now, and very chuffed with it
I do keep getting a message on start-up, though (I have it set to start immediately after booting to WB3.1) that tells me I should run a Vector Check - whatever that is? I had MagicWB installed, but removed as much as I could before installing DOpus, as I didn't like it. Bit silly that there is no uninstaller or info - the guy just states "can't imagine anyone wanting to uninstall it - but you still have your WB3 disks to reinstall workbench" - which is pretty arrogant imho. Anyway, I guess it's my own fault - as I installed after reading that - just wanted to try it and you can't do that without installing. Now I can't get NewIcons to install, either... Aaah, this is what I missed about the Amiga JD |
