Even if WinUAE were to incorporate the PearPC or QEMU core (modified to work with Amiga software), with support for JIT, I don't think there would be any performance advantage over the current 68k emulation. So there would be no real advantage from running PowerPC builds over 68k ones.
Now, if Hyperion Entertainment were looking for a software emulation platform for AmigaOS 4, and were willing to sponsor development of such a platform, then perhaps UAE could provide a suitable base to expand upon (as it already provides support for 'classic' Amigas). It may even be faster than their expensive and underpowered hardware too. Ah, one can dream |

Anyway, despite the arguments against both PPC emulation and Netplay from the WinUAE main dev, I still believe those should be really awesome features that will improve the emulation experience substancially. |

Give Toni a break, the task of fiddling with 68K, PowerPC and x86 assembly is one he wisely avoided.
On the other hand, if there are any skilled coders in these 3 assemblies (myself not included) who would like to get their hands dirty adapting a GPL PowerPC emulation core for UAE/WinUAE, such support would no doubt be well appreciated by the Amiga community. |
