true, you right

however watching my GameBase 2.0 directory i think to have the files that you have. i think i added roms.
WinUAE is the 3.2.2 version
Well the kickstarts are obviously not available there, just the dat to rebuild from your own collection, so I figure you must have used the right kickstart for these games. I may try some of mine from my Amiga Forever DVD and maybe that will make the difference.

Another thing I really do not understand is the lack of the SPS disks on the FTP, they are available in the TOSEC section so why would they not be unavailable? I rebuilt mine with the dat and I could upload the full pack as well but maybe there is a reason that they are not included.

I also found some content missing when I did a "verify available files" and I found the files and renamed them and added the ones missing. One of the files was a music file from the ACP & TCP so that one would be missing. I am afraid to upload the renamed files even without the ACP & TCP music file, there must be some reason their not their, I do not know.

The SPS files missing just need a "." at the end, some Screenshots need the "_" removed from the end.

What do you mean? You can find SPS / IPFs on the "EAB File Server" here:

... /Commodore_Amiga/TOSEC/TOSEC [2016-01-03]/Commodore Amiga - Coverdisks - SPS (TOSEC-v2015-06-27_CM)
... /Commodore_Amiga/TOSEC/TOSEC [2016-01-03]/Commodore Amiga - Educational - SPS (TOSEC-v2015-04-23_CM)
... /Commodore_Amiga/TOSEC/TOSEC [2016-01-03]/Commodore Amiga - Games - SPS (TOSEC-v2015-06-27_CM)

... etc.

You will not find any ACP & TCP files / content on the EAB File Server, in Gamebase Amiga, WHDLoad preinstalled archives or allowed in The Zone!

AndreasM of Amiga Future is still selling a lot of this stuff so we need to respect that.

TOSEC naming isn't working for Gamebase Amiga. You need specific folders and renamed file/zip archives. Then the Gamebase scanner will find them. The required SPS dat file with a .bat for mass sorting/renaming is here

Commodore_Amiga/GameBase Amiga 2/!Dats/ = check the readme too

Though it's dated 27.12.2015. Everything after that isn't recognized through the scanner. Don't know if there are newer dat files for Gamebase Amiga.

I said you cannot find the Gamebase labeled and sorted pack, you know the complete folder "1" to folder "3001", you just have to build it from the dat instead of folder already built lableded SPS with all the IPFs libeled and ready to just drop in the extras folder.

I was already aware about the ACP & TCP warning on the FTP so I knew why that one was missing.

I got the SPS games built into the SPS folder with the dat, but why is this already made SPS folder not available? That was the question. I had no problem making it with my ClrMamePro and the Dat as well as the nice bat file to organize them but suppose some guys are not familiar with building rom sets, the question would be why not just add the ready SPS pack on the FTP.

Because uploading SPS / IPFs on EAB was not allowed out of respect to the SPS Team, since time began...

This finally changed on the 29th of June 2018, see this thread and RCK's approval for removal here.

I guess since the rule change, no one has bothered to get all the Gamebase Amiga SPS files collected / sorted and finally uploaded to the EAB File Server.

You can only upload to your own folder.

Afterwards though, I could move everything to say either:
  • /Commodore_Amiga/GameBase Amiga 2/Games/_SPS
  • /Commodore_Amiga/GameBase Amiga 2/Extras/SPS

The dat has 6 filenames names incorrect with the Gamebase Amiga 2.0 database. These games here:

SPS\801\0859_Bonanza Bros..zip
SPS\1401\1422_Super Monaco G.P..zip
SPS\601\0720_S.D.I..zip
SPS\2201\2293_Smash T.V..zip
SPS\2601\2601_Snow Bros..zip
SPS\201\0212_Chase H.Q..zip

These games need a "." at the end of the filename, so I will add the renamed ones instead of the names in the dat.

Uploading now.

Well, I have problems verifiying the normal ADF-set using clrmamepro. Some CRCs from the DAT are not matching the ADF-files on the FTP.
HTML Code:
1497 - Five Years After [folder: 1497 - Five Years After - size: 880kb]
missing set: 1497 - Five Years After
missing rom: 1497 - Five Years After.adf [size: 901120] [CRC32: c88dbd10]

Warp [folder: Warp - size: 880kb]
missing set: Warp
missing rom: Warp.adf [size: 901120] [CRC32: 2e8dc484]
This was scanned against the DAT-file from the FTP-archive "Dat - GameBase Amiga - Games (v2.1).zip". So according to that DAT "Warp" is supposed to have a CRC32 of "2e8dc484".

But for the actual Warp.adf from the directory /Commodore_Amiga/GameBase Amiga 2/Games/W clrmamepro gives me:
HTML Code:
Path:	X:\Arcade\!Amiga\GameBase Amiga v2.x (from eab-FTP)\Games\W\Warp.zip
Name:	Warp.adf
Size:	901120
CRC32:	1d6702d9

SHA1:	e75bbda2200861bac43913f375c9eb33f85a4813
Any ideas?

Lots of these games were fixed from memory, so Belgarath would have updated them on the FTP server, but I guess didn't update the .DAT files...

Here's some details that I remember:
  • Aerial Racers_Disk1 - Informed Belgo that the disk he was using had an annoying ENV requestor on bootup, I found a better disk so he updated.
  • Fightin' Spirit_Disk1 - 4 - Would be the new crack / set that Psygore did, see this thread.
  • Ghosts 'N' Goblins - Would be the new 100% working / fixed Flashtro crack, see this thread.
  • Operation Stealth_Disk1 - 3 - Would be Galahad's new crack / set.
  • Warp - Would probably be the new crack from Flashtro, see this thread.
  • etc...
The ones from the FTP Server are the ones you should use

Also, you need to remember that Belgarath hasn't published any further work with this since 2016...

You might be best asking for an updated .DAT over at the Gamebase 64 forums under the dedicated section: Commodore Amiga - GameBase Amiga.

Ok, thanks alot, I will ask there again.

It puzzles me that the archive of the DAT explicitly states to be version 2.1: "Dat - GameBase Amiga - Games (v2.1).zip".

But I was even suprised to see "2.1" as everyone in the forums is talking only about 2.0. Is there something odd about 2.1?`

EDIT:
The CRC of "Warp" in that DAT actually seems to be the version from GB1.6:
Code:
Path:	X:\Arcade\!Amiga\GameBase Amiga v1.6\Games\W\Warp.zip
Name:	Warp.adf
Size:	901120
CRC32:	2e8dc484

Home now and have checked all files that you listed in post #211.

What I've written above regarding newer / better disks is 100% correct; also checked the other files you listed... you should definitely be using the ones from the "EAB File Server"

Someone should really update the .DAT to reflect these better files.

I wrote a small script to create a DAT-file from the current FTP contents. So it is not a well defined version but just a snapshot from the current state. Maybe someone else has use for it also.

EDIT:
Well, I should have gone for XML format instead of this clrmamepro format, yes? :/

No, ClrMAMEPro format is definitely the way to go

For over two decades now, it's been the definitive tool for organising ROM sets / files across multiple different systems

Old Clrmame format is deprecated and has been for quite a while now.
XML is the way to go.

Clrmame also defaults to XML when using Dir2dat, which is what I use to make the dats for WHDLoad.

Yup sorry, looking at any of the different system .DAT files that I use, they are in .XML format e.g. TOSEC:

Code:

Yeah I was quite surprised that people still using the extension ".dat" but actually it's XML inside.
So here as XML...

BTW for multi-disk games I merged all disks into a single game. Don't know if this is approriate for someone else than me but I can provide a split version too if needed.
