[Found: War] PD Space War game with speech
Hopefully one of you folks will remember this PD game I'm thinking of.
It was a space war game between two sides, and featuring heavy use of the standard Amiga text-to-speech library. I think you moved forces around on a grid, and battles were fought with one of a number of different mini games. Planet battles saw one ship of each side at a time hovering while shooting missiles in cardinal directions. Space battles between fleets featured left-to-right combat in which you swapped between large and small ships, and was quite a lot like North vs South battles. Any of this familiar to anyone? I thought for a while it was called something really simple like "War" but haven't found it looking for things like that. |

Apologies - after a bit of concentration (when I should've been working) I managed to Google my way to the answer. It indeed was called "War", was available from 17 Bit PD library, and appeared on Page 168 of Issue 38 of Amiga Format. Now to find the darned thing.

Okay, I must be doing something wrong perhaps, but every single one of the linked ADFs comes up with Disk Validator errors when used with the latest WinUAE on a simple A500 1MB config.

I tried FS-UAE and it worked fine, so the images must be okay. I thought I was using the config you mentioned in WinUAE, but possibly not ECS Agnus.
I am seriously considering going back to some real hardware for some of these awkward games I want to play again. Emulation is great for running an A1200 + WHDLoad setup but I miss the simplicity of an A500 and a box of floppies for some things. Edit: Fixed. Seems I forgot to remove my hard disks from the configuration....odd that it would cause floppy Disk Validator errors. Anyhow, sorry for using this as a support thread :P Last edited by WildW; 23 October 2018 at 07:34. Reason: Updated |
