REQ: Scene group names proof

As I have many group names unproven in my spreadsheet, I decided to create this thread to help in an ongoing quest that'll help the guys in TOSEC.

EDIT: Anything that can be proven with an abbreviation can you please post the results in this thread instead, thanks http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=20793

I'll Start with the groups that start with numbers as there is only a few of them

500 Things (not 100% sure about this one)

4-Ward

5th Dynasty

666 Inc

Oh, and could a GM add 'REQ:' to the beginning of the thread title, somehow I forgot :s

Edit: The group names I couldn't find anything about are :-

100%
10-Points
17 Bit Software (presumably 17Bit, but I cannot rule out if they were a different group or not)
2 Static
4-Track Magic
9 Design

So if anybody can help to prove these groups would be really appreciated

17 Bit Software were not a group, they were a PD company setup by Martyn Brown who went on to help found Team 17 (hence the 17 in the name!).

Hi guys|
If you don't mind i will give some more names starting with numbers:

Code:
Group: "17-Bot Software"
Sets: Mr. Potato Head in the Chips Are Up (1991-08-27)(Hill, Chris)[m 17-Bot Software]
Notes: This is almost surely a typo, should be "17-Bit Software", Galahad gave us a great explanation on what it is
"17-Bit Software" appears on a lot of sets supposely doing some modifications, hence i though it was a scene group.
Code:
Examples:
"Amplifier II, The (1991)(Dimension 4)(Disk 2 of 2)[m 17-Bit Software]"
"Amy Vs. Walker Demo (1990)(Schwartz, Eric W.)[m 17-Bit Software][WB]"
Code:
Group: "2703 Group"
Sets: Pac-Mania (1988)(Grandslam)[cr 2703 Group - Wild Riders]
(dat: Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF])
Code:
Group: "79th Trac"
Sets: "Montage 24 AGA (199x)(InnoVision Technology)(Disk 1 of 6)[h 79th Trac][HD]" to Disk 6.
(dat: Commodore Amiga - Applications - [ADF])
Notes: I've never seen this one, you? I suspect it is not a group, probably it was meant to be some descriptor of the hack?

Code:
Group: "976 Evil"
Sets: PhotoWorkX v1.71 (1994)(Corporate Media)[cr TRD - 976 Evil]
Notes: Probably just a guy/scener and not a group?

2703 group is a C64 scene group http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=22730 Possibly moving into the realms of the Amiga, but I can't find any productions regarding the Amiga yet. You probably already know that of course

A.A.C. (Doesn't appear to be an abbreviation)

ABC-Killers

Ability

Abnormalia

Absence

Abel

AVS
(Anything with this presumably belongs to Alex Van Starrex who is neither a group nor a scener)

Strange, i guess A.A.C must mean something, pouet also as A.A.C.

About Alex Van Starrex, it's a person. Probably a developer that coded some tools, 3 sets in TOSEC:
Code:
Commodore Amiga - Demos - Music:
Med-Tunes (1991-11)(Alex Van Starrex)
Octastuff (19xx)(Alex Van Starrex)

Commodore Amiga - Demos - Various - [ADF]:
Octarock-3D (1991-10)(Alex Van Starrex)[WB]
These should be fixed since we use (surname, names) for persons :P

Thanks!
Pouet agrees with you on Acid Force

edit: starting also with a number, i remembered the group "2000 A.D.". I think it is known but what i can't get is a proof or hint about their abbreviation. We have like 36 references for "2KAD" in amiga sets. Is it a valid abbreviation? Any idea?

Just for you PandMonium http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=717543#post717543 That'll make your day

EDIT: ACME vs ACME Factories

http://kestra.exotica.org.uk/demo.php?id=28409 ACME
http://kestra.exotica.org.uk/demo.php?id=484 ACME Factories

Both groups appear to have the same members in these two productions. So are ACME & ACME Factories the same group, obviously ACME Factories being their full name?

EDIT2:

Acon

Acrid

Act

Active Line
(4th - 6th Image)

Acume

Adict

Well, i don't know. They could be the same but exotica may have some errors too. There seems to have been various groups named Acme:
http://kestra.exotica.org.uk/demos.p...oup&query=Acme
That single swedish "Acme" entry could be from "Acme Factories" since they share one of the members.

Thanks for the others too.

Thanks.
2 questions: Alarm or Alarm-UK (i guess the 1st);
Acid/ACID or "Acid Support Group"? (I went for the 2nd on this one, although there are 2 sets from a group named ACID)

For "Amaze" i see sets using both "Amaze" and "Amaze!" in TOSEC in various dats like:
Commodore Amiga - Demos - Music
Commodore Amiga - Demos - Packs
Commodore Amiga - Demos - Various - [ADF]

This needs to be fixed if they are the same group :P

Spiritual Connection (19xx)(Amaze!)[m Warlocks].adf

Just checked this one and the Demo screen only states 'Amaze' and not 'Amaze!' So it looks like the '!' has filtered in from somewhere.

So this one should really read 'Spiritual Connection (19xx)(Amaze)[m Warlocks].adf'

I also checked this one too 'Electrical Ecstasy (19xx)(Amaze!)[m Warlocks].adf' and although the first page states 'Amaze!' a few screens down the line, when the demo really starts, it only States 'Amaze' without the '!'

And again, this one should read 'Electrical Ecstasy (19xx)(Amaze)[m Warlocks].adf'

Hopefully that'll be enough proof to remove and rename the sets although I think someone should check some of the stuff in :-

Commodore Amiga - Demos - Music
Commodore Amiga - Demos - Packs

Just to be on the safe side

Amigans

Amiga Circle
