Running CD32 games on A1200 via CD image?

I've searched the forum for this, but could not quite find the info I was after...

I know you can attach a CD to a A1200 and boot (most?) CD32 games off CD, and I know there are several CD32 games that have been given the WHDload treatment (although this ditches CD audio it appears).

Is it possible to mount a CD image (a la daemon tools on a PC) and run the game? I know there are mounting tools on Aminet - but does this actually work with CD audio? (I will be running an 030 A1200 with extra ram).

And if it does work - what is the best program for running CD32 games on WB3.1? (I don't have a squirrel cd or anything - it's just an IDE cdrom that I would run either through the motherboard IDE or on the scsi chain via a scsi-ide adapter).

Thanks for any tips...

Some CD32 games wont run from HD or image because the cd.device/CDROM envirnoment needs to be Simulated -The best tools for this are SimCD32 from the CD32 Devkit or the Demo of Installl2001.
But CD Audio wont work and Probably no games that use RNC IDE loader.

Unless you do connect a IDE cdrom drive - CD audio should be ok - Using the squirrel CD32 emulator.

So the only way to get cd audio is to play from cd? I'm surprised mounting an image does not work.

And a SCSI cd is worse than IDE for compatibility?

Ok its not IDE but what a shame it would be nice to rehouse the CD32 and put in a IDE CD-Rom.

Games that uses the RNC CD32 loader probably wont work, there pure shovelware with only difference some keys remapped.

Pull the drive out and search on google with the part numbers. There are still suppliers who sell the Sony drive the CD32 uses.

As has been said the interface/electronics are all bespoke Chinon/Commodore (non-IDE)

What about the Emulation of Akiko when it comes to running games on the 1200 designed for the CD32? I know C= originally planned a CD32 drive for the 1200 which never appeared but I was reading last night that their adapter was also designed to use the CPU slot (expansion card underneath).

Tools like CD32 emu take care of Akiko as far as I can tell.
Hey, weren't there tools like ToolsDaemon for PC available for Amiga? Why would these not work?

Someone should code a proper CD32 em00...

Zool,Microcosm and others that access the cd.device probably wont work with tools like ToolsDaemon.

Is there a list anywhere of which cd32 games use what access method, or which security?

It seems several games should work but it's not clear how many or which ones etc...

Using SimCD32, they should all work.

If you have a CDROM, then power computing's CD32 EMU. Does the CDDA tracks to, .

"toolsdaemon"? wasn't that just for menu-items on the WB? DaemonTools on the other hand, is a CD-ROM/DVD-ROM emulation pack for a tiny OS shippiong out from Redmond. Noone has prolly even heard of it :look

No Isos just store the data track. If there is proper CD audio on the disc, an Iso wont carry it.

A huge number of other image formats will.
