EAB's High Score Chase : SWIV
Another competition on EAB This one unlike to the other gaming competitions has no time limit. So you can play and post your scores whenever you like. Only one score per player and it'll be a Top Ten, so you might get kicked out of the scoreboard (just like in the arcades ). Note that this is a kind of 'test' to see if people are interested in this kind of format aswell, so comments and opinions are very welcome. Okay, here we go :
Rules: - Score as many points as possible. (obviously ) - Post screenshots of your score in this thread, and write your score underneath. You can enter as many times as you like within the round's time frame. - No cheating of any kind (including score leeching) - this includes save states. If you suspect a contestant of cheating then don't post it in public (anyone who does so will have their posts edited or deleted) - please PM either me or Graham and we will investigate it. If we find anyone guilty of cheating then they will be banned from the High Score Chase. - Play either as the helicopter or the jeep in one-player mode only. No continues allowed. The rules of the Super League (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=33736) also apply here. Download Links: ADF, WHDLoad-installed You can also find both files on the EAB file server in the folder 'EHSC' Helicopter Top Ten : Code:

Are normal gameplay tricks allowed? Like shooting power ups 50x for the yellow star etc?

Yes - you can play it as you like as long as you don't resort to using cheats... (oh and no blatant score leeching obviously Although I don't see how you can do it in SWIV.)

I would say yes... This isn't really score leeching, so that should be okay.
Edit : Good to see Graham agrees |

You can easily score-leech at the 2nd boss. Destroy 2 of the 3 turrets and then keep shooting at the constantly appearing enemies.
@michael: I don't intend to play SWIV again soon. Maybe if I get my Pandora (2010?)... @TCD: This thread was a good idea - now there's always something to do for us junkies! Last edited by john4p; 05 September 2009 at 11:20. |

Of course not And yes I'll check the threads Please be honest and post only scores from now on.
@john I thought as much. Also this will give an impression about what scores can be achieved if someone is really addicted to a game Let's see how the feedback is |

It's not entirely my fault Someone kinda requested it and I think a competition without a time limit is a nice thing to have. Everybody can play when there's some spare time and not when a schedule demands it.

Yes it's possible, but I really don't see why we should make that. If you are really eager you can always do that for yourself

When/how does the power ups appear ?
I don't take it the force field'ish thingies you can pick up has anything to do with that. Are you stuck with the same crappy weapon throughout the game or can it be upgraded ? A stroll down Memory Lane.... I remember the very first time booting this game in an A500 and thinking WTH !! Is this a shoot'em up construction kit game? "So so" game but I might try it again, a score compo is good motivation. |
