Amiga PC Keyboard Adapter
Hi just a heads up my prototype is working, a low cost pc keyboard adapter for Amiga 500.
Basically its a ps/2 socket on a cable that can be routed under the trapdoor and goes inside the Amiga with a pin header that fits onto the keyboard pin socket and works with any standard PS/2 keyboard. Amiga Reset works by using Ctrl + Left Windows Key + Right Windows Key If I decide to make some I am thinking eBay price of £15+ postage. Would there be any a demand ? If successful I can also implement the same for A600/A1200 using a socket that fits over chip on motherboard. Advice appreciated |

I don't think could be a high demand for the A500 ppl use this computer in the original case
but for the A1200 yes could be a damand but you must compete in price with the lyra adapter |

I think there would be greater interest for A500 keyboard to A1200 mobo adapter.

anyways not very possible because the A500 keyboard doesn't fit well there the circuitry on the A500 keyboard don't let the A1200 case be closed correctly ( it crash with leds' board) |

I suspect the interest is because the A500 keyboard is better THe A1200 keyboard is buggy some keys get blocked if they are pressed simultaneously...those bugs stops some old games to be played correctly (specially flight simulators) |

The Mitsumi A500 keyboard encoder fits the A1200 keyboard flexi cable directly.. No need to put in the A500 keyboard, just add the encoder to your existing keyboard and solder the wires.

A500 keyboards generally seem to be of a better quality. Also, their connector doesn't suffer from wear and tear. 25 years old A500 keyboard connectors are in a better shape then 20 years old A1200 ones.

The Mitsumi A500 and A1200 keyboards are basically made of the same materials and the quality is pretty much identical. The biggest difference is where the flexi cable comes out.
Sure, the A500 kbd's flexi probably hasn't had as rough a life as the A1200's, but ok, let it be known that if your a1200 keyboard's flexi has been ruined, then the A500 encoder PCB will not magically fix it. |
