Play Snow Bros on my A500?
Tried MFMwarp, boots ok, but then loads forever. Runs fine in WinUAE, which is where I MFMwarped it from.
What do I have to do to get it running? I guess there's no .adf/.dms version... Apparently it's a CAPS version. Any chance someone could make a file writable with a utility? |

Check The Zone! for a set of .ADFs Photon
There are also other .ADF versions floating around like: ... SnowBros1diskBETA.adf ... SnowBros+_ADF_[-Rob-].zip If you want these uploaded as well just ask, more info can be found in the Snow Bros Amiga thread... |

ups, ok :9 Assumed it was never cracked nor "ADF-able". Lovely!
Never played it in emu, since I thought "hmm... seems to be one of those that deserve to have their first impressions from the real machine". |

The two disk version has been tested and _will_not_work on my A500. It seeks to some track on disk 2, then machineguns df0: (bringing back less fond memories of the 1541 ), then displays top score bar only, waits 10 seconds and finally plays some bass sound and forces the monitor out of sync.
My settings: A500/040 (accel board switched off) Kick 2.0, also fails in kick 1.3 GVP SCSI in "Game mode" If I would guess, after displaying the score bar it reads from the wrong track and executes it, ie executes garbage :P DamienD has been a sport and uploaded other versions... will also test getting this going on my GP2x... |

Friends were pulling me away from the computer... managed to sneak a GP2x past them tho
Test results on GP2x: none of the 2-disk versions work - both UAE4all and UAE2x are 'too keen on resetting all the time'. So changing disks resulted in a reset. Had hopes for Galahad's beta, which brings me to the intro animation, upon exit screen goes black and nothing happens. In UAE2x, it doesn't even load beyond the bootblock. (n.b.: Sad to say I haven't updated my Amiga emus on GP2x in a couple months, they might have added support for multidisk games recently.) Since all the 2-disk versions seem to be cracked by Flashtro and uses the same diskswap thingy (DF1, anyone?????), I will now try Galahad's 1-disked beta on my A500. |

OK, tried Galahads 1-disked beta on A500/Kick 2.0, since all the others seem to use the same loader for the 2nd disk.
Had a first go and unfortunately I died on the first boss [Kermit look of disapproval] but hiscore save worked, and you could start a new game fine. So multiload isn't tested, but - all seems to work fine here If I manage to get some more computer time later on I'll report back on the multiload. To Galahad: a dirty fix for the garbage around the Ocean logo could be to clear all chipmem (except the bootblock ) in the bootblock code, if there is room. (You guys remember the ClrMem utility? ) |

to write it with the disk format done by pierre adane. unfortunately, it uses tracks with a length of $18B8+2 meaning more than $33XX for both sides of a track....which would require a special drive or system to write back as it is.... i have a cumana which can write back $3182 of data per track DD side, and it fails.... |

The GP2X Amiga emulator is only fixed to accept one memory type isn't it? My version of Snow Bros should detect memory type properly as I use exec to get the type. |

The latest one allows you to configure the memory to some degree, although I've not tried it yet.

Ah, I see. Well Galahad, I tested some more and defeated the first boss. Loads the screen with the monster graphic, fades out, fades next screen halfway in, then <plonk>returns to start menu (kid with fez, "Start Game" / "Options" menu).

Galahad: Did a quick test of Snow Bros beta 1.1 on GP2x again, with UAE4All 0.8.0 beta. Same behavior as before, after animation is done it loads like 40 tracks up until track 63, then starts again from 22 (IIRC) upto 63, and does this over and over.
Judging from trying to start other games, 0.8.0 beta is worse at loading games than the latest non-beta, but perhaps you can figure something out from this behavior? |

I thought it only came in Single disk ?
<Checks ADF HDD> [edit] oohh, 2 disks Seems you are seeking Galahad's 1 disk version. I have Snow Bros in IPF and that is 1 disk, but that is not going to help with loading it on A500. Unless someone with a Cyclone V2 (RichAplin's new version) who can write one back to Floppy for you. OR........ Someone upload 1.1Beta (or newer) to the Zone, which was Galahad's 1 disk version which was working on A1000/500 ? Last edited by whiteb; 29 April 2009 at 06:54. |
