I just wanted to know why peanut butter tastes better on toast than just bread, also crunchy or smooth, which do you think Carmack enjoys the most?

Why, though? You're just posting the same things as in the A1200 thread. It makes no sense.
It's a very strange phenomenon |

He doesn't care, as long as it's on pizza. The guy pretty much only ate pizza for the entire duration of his stint at Id.

Tbh that is pretty cheap compared to the major high street retailer prices. But we all know if you wanted to play Doom in a decent window and speed a 486 was really needed. And when buying a PC buying the lowest common dominator is never a good thing as they get outdated so quickly. Our first PC in 1997 (200mhz) struggled even with a 3dfx card chucked in a year later was not willing to play games on high settings. Has this been confirmed that he had peanut butter on pizza? That would confirm the mathematical brain powers in the peanuts, and debunk the rumours that peanut butter is bad for programmers. |

The pizza is/was a decoy. John Carmack feeds on cosmic particles.

I still think that the SNES Doom assets would allow for a more playable experience on weaker Amigas with 68020/68030 CPUs.
Though, I'm pretty sure that there have been all kinds of mods to make Doom more playable on a 386 machines, but they have been lost to time. |

Sunlit speculated that textures were reduced and transparencies removed but nothing about modifications to the maps. https://twitter.com/a1exh/status/1801536936596660713 |

There is no floor and ceiling textures, resolution is 320 x 100??, screen is not full screen. Is it true that the height differences are minimized so that they always fit within the standard screen height? Nothing is higher than the top of the screen? |

You know more than me or this guy. Post to the original author on twitter? Read the source code? Report back here ;-)

Here's a video of Doom running in low detail mode on a Quadra 700 (full 68040 @25MHz). Frame rate doesn't look great, around 8-9 fps? (my A1200 with 50MHz 030 gets ~14 fps with the same settings). [ Show youtube player ] I think that poor performance would have just confirmed Carmack's opinion that a 25MHz 68040 wasn't fast enough for Doom. Quote:
Carmack would need hundreds of thousands of potential customers to justify porting Doom to the Amiga. The chances of Commodore selling that many 040 based Amigas was nil, not least because if you had that kind of money you would simply buy a PC. |
