It's a thankless task at the best of times, I don't think people quite realise the effort that goes into this sort of role (speaking as someone who is Admin/Mod in a few places).
Thanks for your efforts sir, and glad you're sticking around |

Aw I'll miss the one stern voice of reason when everyone else is crying bloody murder over wrong assumptions and misinformation.

He's not fired. RCK has forgotten how to unmod him lol. It's that anti banning script Damien added for himself a couple of years ago lol

Those of you who have been around a while will know I am not exactly best mates with most of the moderators on here (or any other forum for that matter, lol).
Having said that, I have always had respect for you, DamienD. You have done a fantastic job and we all appreciate your hard work. I'll miss having you as a moderator as I often agreed with your point of view. Thanks for everything you've done for EAB! |

Thanks for your kind words, appreciate your comments... that was worth posting wasn't it?
I don't really need to bother explaining the situation but... these things take time to finalise, and I have some concerns that I'm addressing with EAB's admin i.e. RCK... As mentioned in another thread: |

As basically the only moderator that is active here and as any other moderator the "face" of the board, I think it is only fair to explain everything to the board users.
And if things take time, which I am sure they do, why jump the gun and announce this then remain being a moderator? Just mention it when it's done. I don't like limbo |

I wanted a quick resolution i.e. back to a normal member as soon as possible, but as already mentioned, these things take time and I have some unforeseen concerns that I'm working with RCK on. Seriously now, what does it matter to you if I stop being a moderator, remain in some form or leave completely? Currently I'm still doing most of my daily / self opposed duties to keep EAB afloat, but most people wouldn't notice as it's behind the scenes... i.e:
I guess in your eyes I should have stopped visiting EAB completely since making the announcement, but where does that leave the forum? Last edited by DamienD; 21 June 2019 at 19:55. |

If you are not a moderator anymore, you should not perform any moderator duties.
That has nothing to do with visiting the board. Just be a normal user. You obviously took my message the wrong way. You are clearly burned out. So stop doing it. We want you back to normal. Let the other moderators deal with anything. If they don't, it's their problem, not yours. As it is you are still a mod, as you explained. So this thread is nonsense. |

Thanks guys for the dozens of PMs I've received over the past few weeks; really appreciate your support.
I feel I need to post this / clarify a few things so... RCK has made a decision; rightly or wrongly, and I accept that. From my perspective though, it really is a sad state of affairs when the Admin only reads certain snippets of reports he's received, but can't be bothered to read through the offending, heated thread to see how and why my reactions came about i.e. "members" bad mouthing / threatening his forum... At least he wrote some nice things, so despite what some of you may think of me: Quote:

To all you so called "members" here who slung mud at myself, EAB and the EAB File Server... ask yourself this; what exactly do you do for this forum? Will EAB be a better place without me; who's to say... going forward though, I will no longer do anything for anyone, the Amiga community, EAB or the Abime network. I'm still debating whether or not to have RCK completely delete my account... the only thing holding me back is that I still want to know about / participate in WinUAE threads. Once thing's for certain, I'll definitely have a lot more free time on my hands ...and I'm sure one of the remaining GMods will close this thread soon. |

I personally think you did a very good job over the years, Damien. Sad to hear that you didn't leave the mod duties on your own this time, but in the end it's RCKs "playground and rules". Or did i got this wrong?
Also have to say that those few complaining/bad mouthing individuals put a shame to the best Amiga forum available in the past 2-3 years. I would have reacted much much harsher than you. Believe it! Last edited by Retro-Nerd; 12 June 2020 at 18:33. |

Thank you for all your work DamianD. This is really sad and I am not happy about your decision, you made only one mistake, mixing up your private opinions with your job as a moderator. It would be sad to lose you as eab member, keep the Amiga faith.

I'm genuinely sorry to see this - and have to say thank you for your efforts over the years.
Moderating a forum is never an easy task. I've done it once before - never again! So while I haven't always agreed 100% with your decisions I've certainly had tremendous respect for the fact that you were prepared to make them, and for everything else you've done for the forum / community over the years. Enjoy your extra "me" time - but please do stick around. Without the "GM" badge you can be a miscreant now, like the rest of us! |
