If you really want to use it as mass storage, then I suggest you format it as FFS or PFS3 or SFS.. |

Use prepcard from the Workbench installation prior to try to format the unit.

Strange situation. IDE is not dead, cable is dead and CF card is dead. Cable started to melt after few sec after I had Workbench loaded.

Is there any new production batch for IDE68K scheduled? I would like to get one of these adapters
Ooops it's not the proper thread, my mistake. |

Hey all. Just a quick question - I did scan the thread so apologies if I missed it. Is it usual to have no HDD access light when a CF is installed? I just installed an adapter and a CF card using ClassicWB and I don't get any activity light when the card is accessed. The adapter doesn't seem to have a separate LED header.
Not a huge problem since it all seems to work OK. |

I just finished off a session on my A1200 using a CF card as a hard drive. I used Killergorilla's guide and made two partitions of 500 and 3000 megabytes. All seems fine except that it doesn't boot on a cold start, but I have to reboot on the purple screen to make the CF boot. I should mention that I have no floppy installed because I have no power cable for it.
Another thing is that certain Amiga programs report the disk as Non Dos, for instance Sysinfo. Why is that? I have installed ClassicWB on the CF and everything just works flawlessly other than two above issues. |

Some CF-IDE adapters can be modified so that the HDD activity LED indicates CF card activity just the same. This has been discussed recently on EAB. I'll try to find the thread for you and post link here. Edit: This is it! http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=35893 Last edited by prowler; 17 December 2009 at 00:13. |

As someone else said, this is a lot of information to trawl through - I can't make head nor tail of what's needed for a single CF boot (preferred dual myself) - for those that have the answers and compatibility list is there any chance it could be posted at the top of the thread - which I thought was the point of a sticky.
My intention was to have 2 cards, one for general use and another for a BBS backup (cron job). I personally have done my best to get an Amiga BBS together so that people can download the files, read the instructions and get going in no time...would be nice if someone could use their knowledge in a clearer way here. The majority of links (for picture reference) are eBay, long dead listings. |
