That is so weird. I have never owned an external drive and used to play RR regularly on my A1000.

External drive “required” means you don’t need to swap the disks 1000 times!

While I am waiting for the external floppy I have done some more reading. Some people have reported in the past problems running rocket ranger PAL version on an NTSC machine. Does anyone have an NTSC version I could try?

I have the NTSC version on my uploads folder on the EAB file server.

Tried the ones in your upload folder and they fail at the workbench screen. I then tried pulling the disks out of the WHDload bundle and booting them, it makes it farther, but then drops to a blue screen that has resume at the top left, but the menu bar moves to the middle of the screen and the system freezes. I guess i'll just wait for the external floppy.

Maybe you have a bad disk or disk drive on your 1000?

ADF doesn't mean real floppy. I wondered about that.

This is problematic to using a floppy emulator that isn't setup correctly. Or if RAM becomes bad.

Webmany us using an emulated floppy vs real, so the differences are very different at times. I have an emulated floppy for my A4000 and it's not the same. My HxC doesn't emulate HD floppies at all. It also doesn't emulate DF1 to DF3 very well if not AmigaDOS formatted.

I think it's not Amiga problem but rather emulated floppy. The emulated floppy is using RAM a real drive doesn't use.

I have original NTSC floppies I could send, if you want? If I remember correctly, they aren't protected except for the wheel. I really disliked the wheel. If you have problems with Red and such, it's hard to read. I became very irritated with the game because of the wheel. The WHDLoad version doesn't help, the letters, for ME, are too squished to make sense of (I know you meant well JOTD). But I greatly respect the attempt.

Once I found a "printable" version of the codes, I could play the game well. It was challenging to make the code table. I used hours doing so..I loved, loved, loved the game, once some one else gave me a print. At that time, seeing colors differently wasn't understood well at all. Small (4:3) monitors..I do Not miss them!

Randomly find that could be helpful to share here
Seems that there are at least two sets of codes for this game

-All the cracked versions (Bobius,FLT and QTX) use the same set, and ie to go from USA to the Atlantic (to reach the Zeppelin at the begin) you need 23 fuel units

-The .ipf versions use another set, and ie for the same USA to Atlantic flight, are required 31 units

-Using winuae, the game works great also with an A1200 configuration (and same 2 floppy drives hint)

I have all the Cinemaware titles from their website when they were giving them away for free. Happy to upload that to the zone. Not sure what versions they put up though. The occupaning code wheel has 31 units for the USA to Atlantic flight.

I grabbed these too when they were available.

I believe they are all various cracks.

If you want to find out exactly which, just run them all through ClrMAMEPro and the latest TOSEC dats.

Wow, thanks DamienD. Very interesting. I did not know ClrMamePro did Amiga disk as well. It is rather sad that so many pieces of software were not archived and documented properly by the companies that made them. I guess we are so busy running forward, we forget to look back in a while and tidy up after ourselves.

the whdload version already does that. If you press a key the fuel codes appear.

(and my crack of operation stealth doesn't require any sheet, just enter anything It was some tough 10 hour work though)

I'm referring doing one for floppy/ADF so at least one version is preserved as being 100%.

Operation Stealth took me 25mins to colour in the picture and 15 minutes to write the routines to patch it in.

I'm all about making life easy on myself lol

So the Bobius version makes my plan unnecessary if they have gone to that trouble.
