3D model for DB23 connector
Hi All,
I tried to buy more DB23 hoods and its getting nigh on impossible to find so i decided to make my own ![]() here's the design. THe nice thing is both sides of the hood are identical so the shell can be made using the same piece. Its a pretty basic design but it will work ![]() ![]() |

I have stated on many occasions that I can get the connectors and the back shells, back shells are $1 each or $0.88 for 10 or more, happy to post them at cost, freight to me is $9.90, I would just ask you pay half and naturally postage to Canada.

What I NEVER managed finding was an IDC Connector for 23pins like the ones for DB25
http://www.winfordeng.com/products/cni25.php Would be really nice for custom mod getting the floppy signals inside instead of desoldering the original 23pin connector like I did on the Parallel port for MAS-Player mod. |

@Kipps
Looks delicious! @loedown, How much do you think it would be for 50/100 of these (inc. postage to UK) ? @mfilos my friend, for two FDD's you can use the same internal cable and just pick up a couple of signals from underneath the motherboard for DS1/2/3 if I get some time I will put up a schematic! |

Back shells are $0.88 per part for 10+ Freight to my door is $9.90, I will always buy something so you pay half, I round it up to $5 Postage would be $71 by air mail, that's an assumption of 1.5 - 2.0Kg $52.50 connectors either male or female (50) $44.00 back shells $5 Freight $71 shipping If you know anyone who's visiting or anyone who is coming over I can organize to meet them somewhere and give them the package which would cut out the postage. Nice to see you around. |

I take it the freight is the killer, if you have a better idea I'm all ears.

@loedown
Thanks for getting back to me... its good to come back here now and then, I dont get much on-line time these days =( Now, its a great price for the components, the shipping isn't too crazy (assuming AUD). At the moment its not far from the cost to get just the 23db connectors from the US, I shall crunch some numbers this afternoon and see what can be done.. would you know / estimate what the weight would be for (1) Just 100x 23DB female connectors? (2) Just 100x 23DB shrouds ? (3) 100x 23DB Female & 100x 23DB shrouds I may have some mischief planned very soon =) |

I did find one website for Farnell which suggests the weight of each connector to be 14 grams, this is for a 25 pin version and the information was sketchy as to which type it was, through hole or cup style. I have weighed out a 25 way D type with cups at 7 grams, so if we assume 7 grams per part give or take that gives your total at 700 grams per 100, back shells will be nothing, I should be able to keep the shipping under 1Kg which means the postage is $37 AUD by airmail.

Hi All,
I'd like to present my latest creation. I tried to buy some backshells but they are getting a lot harder to come by (cheaply) so i decided to get my 3D model finished for the 23 pin backshells. I will use these primarily for my svideo adapters I had the quality setting set to low and each pair of shells took 36 minutes to print. I will sell these, price won't be that bad, it will be cheaper than ebay. take a peek ![]() ![]() I also have grey but meh! Last edited by kipper2k; 16 June 2013 at 16:22. |
