Hi Simone,
iGame its self doesnt need any installation. Just copy the unpacked directory from the archive anywhere in your disk (get the 1.3 version). Then, you'll need some libraries. http://aminet.net/dev/misc/guigfxlib.lha http://aminet.net/dev/misc/renderlib.lha Put these two libraries to your SYS:libs/ (after unpacking you only need the 2 *.library files) And lastly download: http://aminet.net/dev/mui/MCC_Guigfx.lha http://aminet.net/dev/mui/MCC_TextEditor-15.21.lha From these archives, copy guigfx.mcc, texteditor.mcc, texteditor.mcp to MUI:Libs/mui/ I assume you have MUI installed? Note: if iGame gurus when you start it, replace the render.library and guigfx.library from this archive: http://igame.amigahellas.gr/files/gu...nder_nofpu.lha |

I installed iGame 1.3 and now I am getting a crash and a Guru message 8000 0003 - I tried the alternate render and guigfx libs but still the crash - how is everyone else getting on with 1.3...?
1.2 worked ok for me - I suppose I could go back to the old version... |

I've had this problem as well. Never tried 1.2 so I can't comment on how that works. Do you find that it starts up okay, but if you click on the button that scans your drive for games (it's been a few weeks so I can't remember exactly how the program works) it crashes then? That happened to me.

That is exactly what happens Graham.
Version 1.2 ran fine for me TBH but it had other niggles so I thought I would upgrade (!) to 1.3... |

So much for that then, you don't get many bigger niggles than the program crashing when you so much as look at it

i had same problem.
solved with less games on one directory- ive divided all whd games to eleven genres/directories and after that each one added as repository to igame. works fine now (i have around 60 games in igame) maybe whole prob is with scanning whole kgwhd package in one go |

I have all my games split into different directories as well - I've got 28 directories (A to Z, and PDGamesA-M and N-Z) but that hasn't helped me.

I could give this a go later as my games are divided a-z... I will add them one directory at a time... let you know how I get on.

Damn, just saw this thread, sorry...
Thing is, game discovering is changed in 1.3 (against 1.2). It now does some stuff to find the game's title, so it's some new code there. Sorry about that... You say it happens when there is a lot of games? I'll check it out, and try to fix it. Edit: One thing to try is get the stack a bit more, or use Stackattack. The scanning does some recursive work which relies on a good amount of stack. |

I upped the stack size as you suggested and it works perfectly. (I increased it to 32000, not sure if that's overkill or not but the main thing is that it works.)
I think it's a great little program, however I did find a strange bug - as I presume it reads all '.slave' files, it also read a file I had which is named '.slave.asm', which is a source code file. The name came out as garbage at the bottom of the list. Easily solved by renaming the offending file though. An option to delete game names from the list within the program would be nice too. As would being able to edit WHDLoad prefs and individual game's tooltypes (as you state in the docs). All in all though it's very good, keep up the good work and thanks for your help! |

Ah, glad it worked.
Yes, about that slave... I'll change the way it finds slaves by looking inside the file, instead of the part of the name... Many people have .slave_old files, which wanted to be able to discover... Actually, you can hide some slaves you dont want to show up on your list. Simply check Hidden in game properties, and it'll go away. Your hidden files can be shown by selecting "Show hidden slaves" from the menu. The game tooltypes editing is high on the list :-) Sadly my A3000 disk is misbehaving for some time now, I'm about to replace it so work is slow... Thanks! |

It works for me as well - thanks, I was missing this - it's great...
Question - What exactly does stack size do? |

Well, the stack keeps track of functions called, and stores them untill they return. In recursive operations, where a function is called by itself many times before it returns, the os has to store all these calls in the stack and release them as each one ends.
If you keep calling the function recursively, and run out of stack -> guru. That's why iGame will work for a few games (ie. a few dirs and files) and maybe fail on larger searches. |
