SimCity 2000
Does anyone know of a good config setting that'll make SimCity 2000 run at a decent speed in WinUAE? Even with JIT enabled it takes almost 16 years just to load a city or anything really.
Hope someone can help me at least, I'd really like to play this game properly, without all that F'ing slowdown crap. And is that one resolution that the game makes you choose at startup really the only resolution it can do? |

No Problem = No solution
I´m using standard config from back2roots (AGA30) and it´s running at good speed here |

I got a fantastic solution...Switch to the PC version
It's faster, and more playable in my opinion |

I have yet to play the PSX version so I can't comment there
But. My original point is, it doesn't matter which platform you play it on just as long as you don't deprive yourself of enjoying the game. Let it run on a calculator if it makes it more fun |

Now that could be fun.
I'm going to have to agree that you might as well run the PC version. I can't really comment much about the gameplay, but if you're going to be playing it on the PC anyway just through emulation you might as well save yourself the resources and run the version made for the machine you're using. That ought to fix your speed problem. Now if you had had an Amiga on which to run it on it might've been different. |

Yep, the Amiga version was shovelware, that's why it runs so bad! If Maxis only took the time to properly port it to the Amiga, t would have been a fav game

It's rather convenient that a Sim City 2000 thread is started here, as I begun to play it again this week...
I agree, it's better to just play the PC version, as it's faster than the Amiga version... Oh, if you want some tips about gameplay, just ask me, I am the greatest mayor of all time |

And besides, I thought the term "shovelware" only referred to ST-to-Amiga conversions... You know what, I wonder if the GBA would be able to handle a conversion like SimCity 2000? Would Maxis/Nintendo be able to pull it off? |

2 things, Marz. yes, your processor may be too slow. I am running it fine on a P3 800, and have a freind with similar problem.
He has a AMD K6 400 or something. As for your suggestion to convert it to the GBA? Excellent idea, you tramp I would actually go out and buy one if Immortal and NHL Hockey series makes it too on it. |

That's a game I've been wanting to play for YEARS.. I have the MSX version, but as everything is in japanese, I can't get too far |

Marz, it doesn't matter if it looks just like the PC version, it's shite. They should HAVE made compromises in the port. For making a straight shovelware thing they fucked it up.
BTW, recommending to play the PC version is not such a good thing after all. Tried to run it and all the memory management shit I had to set was so annoying that I ended up giving up :P |
