Choosing a new ATX power supply for an expanded Amiga bigbox

Hi,

Some Corsair PSU SF models were recommended as replacements for older Amiga PSUs.

Today it is difficult to find Corsair ATX SF450 or SF650 psu. What are the alternatives to these models/brands for Amiga bigbox :

- A4000D
- A3000D
- A4000T
- A3000T

Any suggestion/advice?

Regards,

Alama

Remember, PSUs also have a minimum load requirement, as well as a maximum. I have a 180W SFF PSU wired up via an ATX loom to the Amiga power input, and it works like a charm, you don't need a huge PSU.

Yep, the A4000 came out with a ~150w PSU (around 90w available on the 5VDC rail ... about 18amps). so even a modern ATX PSU @ 450w is total overkill...

I've been using BeQuiet SFX Power 3 units for a while. I'm unable to find the source now, but I do remember reading a detailed review that stated they have independently-regulated voltage rails (so that the very important 5V keeps very close to spec regardless of what 12V etc. are loaded up to).
