A1200 missing caps

Hello
Can anyone enlightening me into why my A1200 ver 2B motherboard is missing caps?
The board was supposed to be professionally recapped by someone in NZ, do these missing caps matter?
The A1200 suffers from the odd crash and the PCMCIA slot will not transfer data is this the possible cause..

Those caps relate to the video modulator, which you don't have, so they don't matter here -- C460 is a no-stuff ....

This won't have anything to do with pcmcia transfers .... but I note from your image...

...could just be the picture, but have those 4 buffer chips been reworked?

edit: also check pins in pcmcia port

Before blaming the hardware, I would blame the software setup.

What is that "odd crash" - when and how does it happen?

What is installed to access the PCMCIA slot? What kind of card and drivers do you use? Give us a few more infos, please.

It's also worth stepping back a bit from the software / drivers situation and checking the PCMCIA port at a lower level. PrepCard (in SYS:Tools) can be used to check if any communication at all is happening on the PCMCIA port. If that doesn't recognise the card when it's inserted, it's a hardware issue. If it shows up there but can't be read through the drivers, it's most likely a software issue.

PrepCard can only work with SRAM and DRAM cards. I highly doubt he has any of those. PrepCard won't do anything with other types of cards inserted.

Thing is, he has not told anything yet. Maybe he's not even aware that drivers are needed, and "will not transfer data" is just because inserting a CF card in a PCMCIA adapter will not work out-of-the-box.

The reason I suggested PrepCard is that it does, in fact, show the presence and identification of a card, regardless of what type it is. Of course it can't format a NIC or CF card reader, but it will still show it is present. And this eliminates the various issues related to drivers, compatible CF cards and so on.

You should try it yourself.

Thank you for all your input, so the caps aren't the issue.
System is running ACA 1234 Drive on card not on ide.
First of all the PCMCIA card is recognized by the system just comes up with errors when transferring files.
Tried about 6 cards (CF) and 3 adapters the same fault.
Tried a fresh install of different versions of WB
Tried without card installed and IDE drive fitted
Yes the buffer chips have been replaced as there was a small amount of green fuss on a couple of pins of one of them, so replaced all of them and cleaned evey thing with no signs of corrosion, the issue was the same after replacing them.
Have run amiga test kit no issues found with CIA or anything else.
PCMCIA port looks perfect.
Still the same error after all this?
However the timing fixes have not been done, so I will do them and pray that's the cause.
Is there a good tutorial on how to do this on a ver2B board?
Thanks

Ok so I've done the timing mod with no difference, however I have now tracked the issue down to a software problem with LHA.
So I'm going to start a new thread in the software section. Cheers
