IVS Trumpcard SCSI
Hi folks, an A4000d I recently got hold of has an IVS Trumpcard SCSI Z2 interface and and external SCSI CDROM. The card is recognized but the cd rom is not. Anyone here done this before? I have the ADF of the driver disk but it’s really for partitioning hard drives.

What OS version are you running? Do you have a CD filesystem installed?

Hi - Sorry about the delay in responding. I am using OS 3.2.2 - for which, I thought, I didnt require a CDFS install? Ive installed the Trump drivers and have updated the CD0 icon in Devs/dosdrivers to point at the new driver - but thats about the run of it. The Amiga detects the card correctly, as does the dodgy looking IVS software for partitioning hard disks - but doesnt list the CD ROM (I assume because its not a HDD)..
I have power to the HDD and it seems to operate correctly. With no other way to test it though, I am starting to wonder if its not working correctly. |

With 3.2.x, software-wise, all you should need to do is adjust the CD0 tooltypes to match the Trumpcard device name and the unit number of the CD drive. If that’s not working then we’ll have to look deeper. Is the SCSI chain properly terminated? Is autoboot enabled for the Trumpcard? Is the CD drive known to be working?
Probably best not to use the Trumpcard software given how old it is. Try to find another utility to scan the SCSI bus and see if the CD drive shows up. 3.2 might come with a Mounter tool (can’t recall); SCSIMounter (on Aminet) is my go-to. Again, you’ll need to adjust the tooltypes to use the Trumpcard device name. |

What version is the boot ROM on the board? Maybe earlier versions don't support CD drives??? You could try disabling the ROM and loading the most recent driver from disk instead.
