Z2 Fast RAM Setting Bug?
I have a strange problem with WinUAE 4.10.1, even with new created configs.
It seems that Workbench screen freezes after loading OS 3.1 for some seconds when using an A1200 Config with Cycle Exact Settings, 2 MB Chip-, and 8 MB Z2 Fast RAM and HDD. After that, the chip RAM memory goes down to just a few bytes, so that you can no longer open windows or work in any other way. This behavior does not occur when using 4MB Fast Ram or less, only at the highest setting. Apparently this does not affect every PC, because I have not yet been able to observe this behavior on my laptop. If this isn't a bug, what else could it be? I can't duplicate. Is it really due to 8M Fast or CPU settings?
I can only think of some bad program corrupting memory (which accidentally hits non-existing address when less than 8M). Or something in startup-sequence enabling PCMCIA address space. Might be timing sensitive (even if CE-mode, UAE HD controller access speed will still depend on host PC speed) Set windowed mode. Boot normally, enter debugger (shift+f12), type "dm" and "Tm" commands. Copy and paste output. It should show it memory lists are corrupted. You can also try debugging tools like mungwall. |
