New joysticks with independent 3 buttons
Uni-Joy is planning release of new DB9 joystick in Atari standard for retro hardware. Amiga ports are working in such standard, so this is also for Amiga users.
I was talking with someone from team projecting these joysticks and there is option to make joysticks with independent three buttons - 1st is as trigger fire, 2nd under thumb on top, 3rd on base. Is there someone interested in such 3-buttons version? Edit: All informations should appear in this topic, please write all You comments there. Last edited by Solo Kazuki; 06 January 2022 at 13:03. |

Because it's not poll of kind "I'm bored and I'm curious what You do when You're bored", but specific question which should give number of eventual buyers. So "no" option doesn't give any real value in this poll.
However You can always write Your opinion in comments. Last edited by Solo Kazuki; 13 October 2021 at 13:40. |

I voted yes, but the joysticks in the picture would be no good to me: the buttons should all be on the base (and be more accessible than the one shown) or, at most, only one should be on the shaft.

3 buttons is pretty cool. A lot of games need 2 buttons + 1 for pause or something else. I'd buy one of those!

Costs are still calculated, so it's only approximate Price. It is dependent from quantity of order, but they are trying to not exceed 50EUR.

I'm interested about new joysticks (bought ArcadeR just), but I'm not interested about the design seen here, so probably wouldn't buy these.
First, joysticks with tall stick and buttons at the top aren't precise enough for accurate and fast paced gaming. The movement of a tall stick is just too big to be quick and pressing the buttons with the same hand that you control directions is clumsy in fast action where you would like to take grip as low as possible to reduce the required moving distance. Secondly, the button at the base of the joystick is definitely at the wrong position. If you want, or have to, keep the joystick in your hands, you can't press that button with your thumb, because it's at the back side... I would also like autofire... maybe the third button could work as autofire for the 1st button without a separate switch... |

So this is no option for You. This is flightgrip joystick type with buttons on handle, not arcade stick.
If You are really interested in arcade type joystick, write to me private message. |

Joystick 3 button great idea.
I think a button should be placed forward left, it is more convenient. Similar to Competition Pro. |

A lot of the joysticks made in the Amiga’s glory years were obviously not made based on observations of humans playing games, or even of human hands. Instead, many joysticks were based on previous joysticks, dating all the way back to airplane joysticks, which are a poor match for computer gaming apart from (naturally) flight simulators. They also looked good on pictures, which is always important for a commercial product.
It looks like this joystick is repeating the same mistakes as Quickshot et al, making a joystick that works fine for flight simulators but is hopeless for arcade games, where you need short throws and the ability to dedicate one hand to directions and one to fire buttons. |
