Cannot open "gvpscsi.device" unit 2

Hi all

I just inserted an old scsi card into my 2000 and this message popped up. Does anybody know what it means?

Also, I am told: 962728 graphics mem 3739088 other mem (at the top of the screen).

Am I correct in saying that I have approximately 9 MB of "memory" and the other value refers to the hard disk space?

You've got 1 MB Chip-RAM and 4 MB Fast-RAM. Hard disk space is not displayed in the screen title.

When you used this hard drive last time you probably also had a CD drive connected with SCSI ID 2. The CD drive is now missing. Remove the driver from Devs/DOSDrivers, then the message will disappear.

Thanks! You are correct, the previous owner had a CD drive connected, presumably to the SCSI card?

gvpscsi.device is the name of the driver for (funnily enough!) GVP SCSI cards. Something is trying to open unit 2 (i.e. SCSI unit 2). I'm guessing there used to be a SCSI CDROM connected and AmigaDOS is trying to mount it.

962728 graphics mem means 962KB of chip (graphics etc) memory.
3739088 other mem means 3.7MB of non-chip memory.

So you have 1MB on the motherboard and 4MB elsewhere.

I'm guessing there are simms on the GVP card. I think you can increase this to 8MB. These old SIMMs should be really cheap.

BTW, GVP made really nice cards.
