Group Buy for A1200 expansion Port Connectors
Hi All,
Not sure if this post belongs here, if not then please move to correct subforum. I was able to find a supplier that will make the A1200 Expansion Port connectors. Jens was approached and asked how much it would cost for these connectors to be made but the initial cost of 6000 Euro tooling fee (not including the cost of the connecors itself) was the stopper. I can get them at various costs depending on the demand. For the prices to remain good, obviously the more bought the cheaper the overall cost. Here is the cost breakdown ($US) For the first order that i place there is a one time fee of $400 so this has to be added to the final order and divided between the total pieces. FIRST ORDER 3 WEEKS TO SHIP UPON RECEIPT OF ORDER. Quantity Unit Price 10.00EA 45.120 /1 25.00EA 37.030 /1 50.00EA 32.230 /1 100.00EA 28.500 /1 250.00EA 25.370 /1 so for instance, an order of 100 pieces would be $28.50 US each. This does not include any taxes, duties and postage costs. I am trying to find somewhere else to buy them and as yet, no luck. "Amike" from A1K.org has started a thread to gauge interest at... http://www.a1k.org/forum/showthread....870#post696870 In all probability the price for these would translate to about $40 each but that is a guess. Due to the cost of such an order i would not be able to place it until we reach the demand (Hopefully 100) and i get a prepayment to ensure i don't get stuck with a lot of pieces. If you are interested in this group buy please add your name to the thread at A1k.org to keep things easy to maintain |

I thought Jens had already paid the NRE tooling costs for producing these connectors? He must have to be able to produce all his A1200 accelerators.
For low volume, Adamtech who made me the CD32 connectors might be worth contacting. They sent me a handful of samples |

Thats them.
The CD32 connector however was an off the shelf product. It's connector is the same as a 182 Micro Channel Adaptor, a bus slot used on PC's in the late 1980's and industrial equipment. If the A1200 connector was 100% bespoke, Adamtech may not be able to help without high NRE tooling. I know it was made by FoxConn but was it used in anything else? Adam-Tech sent me some free samples of the CD32 connector which was more than enough for my needs (A bit like the Atari Falcon RTC which are available as free samples from Maxim) Last edited by alexh; 16 January 2014 at 18:41. |

The a1k.org seems to be all in German. Is it ok to add our names there in plain English?
By the way, I am going to post this in some Spanish fora to see if someone else is interested |

Unfortunately your idea has already occurred to others, people have asked Jens at IndComp, but the price is out of reach for hobbyists. |

Why not asking to Jens for selling some of them for peoples that want to prototype homemade boards, instead?
