Question Petro's NOS Amigas - how many of them worked out of the box?

Would like to ask folks who purchased Petro's Amigas what was their experience in this regard. How many of you just turned it on to see if it works (and went happy ever after) and how many of you decided to go for a little Amiga autopsy, spill its guts and make sure everything's fine before even touching the ON switch?

Oh and..how many of you (if at all) couldn't get your Amigas to work out of the box (I'm hoping not too many).

Thank you.

I don't have one yet, but have ordered one. I would not use the PSU without measuring the output voltages first, but I wouldn't worry much about using a known good PSU to test the A1200 straight from the box. I will still open it up though to apply various fixes if it won't run with the ACA1232. Also, I'll be keeping an eye on the caps.

Im in the process of ordering one aswell!

I will be gutting the psu more than likely, going to to do what Zetro has done and put in an matx psu, drop in fan etc.

Only other thing I will have to be prepared for is weeping capacitors on the 1200.

EDIT: Will have to open it anyway as I have a brand-new unused ACA1232 waiting for such an occasion!

Mine worked like a charm. Electronics and mechanics (drive) and mouse. Flawless victory

^^I saw this horror:
http://www.2e0zak.co.uk/amiga/strip-down.html

So..if I decide to open it up (at least after some time of enjoying it out of the box), I'm gonna have to build up some serious courage to do so..

Mine worked out of the box (except for PSU). I am replacing the capacitors in the PSU and will also replace them on the A1200 motherboard.

Petro's NOS Amigas - how many of them worked out of the box?

The one I bought worked perfectly, although I had to use a voltage converter for North American power -- now replaced with a dual voltage mATX.

Inside all caps looked perfect. My issue was with the missing/stolen manuals and software. I replaced these at a great of cost and time.

I've ordered mine in the upcoming June delivery, and since missing out on the first run, I'm now quite high on the list.

When I got it, I will report back here.
One thing is for sure, I will be using my converted ATX power supply at first run.

One quick question: I also ordered A600 from one of the local ads (for a good price). I was wondering if the A600 PSU is compatible with stock A1200 (In case the A1200 PSU doesn't work)?

Yeah, they're all interchangable. Some can deliver a bit higher current than others, but for plain unexpanded Amigas it doesn't matter. Surprisingly enough, my A1200 with an ACA1232 accelerator uses less power than a plain A600 without any accelerator (measured at the 230V side)..

White A600 and A1200 PSUs are exactly the same. I swap mine between my A600 and A1200 all the time (even my A500 works on it). I'm not sure about the black ones. They feel a lot cheaper.

^^The one that comes with my A600 looks like a freaking brick..even if it one day dies on me, I could still use it as a foundation for building a house.
