Samba 2.2.5 on OS 3.9
Heya,
I've managed to setup Samba 2.2.5 (server) on OS3.9 using miamiDX on my A4000. It looks good with swat and all. The samba client is already working since before and I can access my network from my amiga. I'm now setting up the server part to reach my amiga from the PC (for example). I can mount a share (the All share in this case) but I can not browse it using explorer. I CAN explore it using a DOS prompt though. It also works fine from a linux machine. What can be the cause of this? I'm guessing something on the Windows 7 machine? I've enabled cleartextpasswords in the registry, but that did not help. The set up samba user, "pcguest", has no password. Please see picture. Works in DOS prompt. not in explorer. Any ideas? Thanks =) |

I made quite an effort to setup this as you and I even succeeded to be able to write to the Amiga (I don't remember how I did this tbh though).
The weird part is that all written files from Win7 to the Amiga were corrupted so it wasn't usable at all so I ditched it. AFAIK Win7 and Samba for Amiga just DON'T work. |

Hrmp. Looks like you're right. I'll settle with just the client on the amiga it seems.
Thanks |

You can use Amiga Explorer to access Amiga files from the PC. Transfers are much faster than with Samba. And setup is really easy. On the Amiga just make sure that AExplorer is run after the TCP/IP stack is started and on the PC just change the properties to TCP/IP and enter the IP address (or host name) of the Amiga.

That works, but I wanted to make a script to sync files from PC to my various amigas so they are all in sync. There are software for this on the amiga side (FolderSync etc) but its very slow for the old amiga to go through all files and figure out which is newer etc. Much faster to let the PC do the thinking, but that requires that I have the amiga as a driveletter on the PC.
I wanted to run a script (robocopy or whatever) on the PC side to only copy the latest changes over. No easy task via Amiga Explorer since I do not get a drive letter for the amiga.. |

Thomas, When I set AE on pc and try to acces Amiga I get notice in genesis:
Access from host 192.168.1.15 to port 356 denied. How to allow it on Amiga? Quote:
