Street Fighter 2 lock-ups?
When playing this game on real hardware (A1200 2MB CHIP, 32MB FAST 68030, WHDLoad 16.9) I seem to experience locks-ups on the loading screens. Usually I start a game, pick a character, have my first fight, loose that match and then pick another fighter. The game then hangs on the loading/VS screen. However if I stay with the same character and retry the fight then game loads?
I have also ran the game in WinUAE using my A600 config and cannot reproduce the fault. |

Streetfighter 2 halts the system interrupts when doing the disk id checking (Copylock is used for disk identification. The reason it won't hang if you use the same fighter is because it doesn't do the disk id check as the data is already loaded, but will do it again if a new character is loaded. Of course in WHDLoad, these checks are removed so it never hangs. |

Once the hang occurs it's permanent, I have to hit the F10 key and return to the wb
The exact series of events are as follows: * Start game * Select the keyboard controls * Use default game parameters * Pick Chun Li * Loose first fight * Continue with different character * Load/VS screen hangs Update! I ran the game again today and got a different outcome...Instead of selecting the keyboard controls I picked joystick, Played a couple of rounds with Chu Li before dying, picked another character and was able to keep playing without the hang?... I quit back to the menu, pausing and then esc. Started game again this time picking keyboard, game started, picked character (Chun Li) and game hung before fight even started? There's definately something weird going on with this game. Last edited by lordofchaos; 13 January 2013 at 22:39. |

Sounds like a keyboard problem then, i'll look into it this weekend, should be a relatively easy enough fix.

Galahad: Are you going to support the other version of Street Fighter 2 I sent you about 5 years ago? (It had a different MFM format, $1400 bytes/track compared with $1600 on the "normal" version). And do you still have those disk images or have you lost them?

If the Street Fighter 2 slave is being looked at again, The pal/ntsc selector could do with looking at as it causes the screen to do weird things inside whdload. All is fine running from floppy on a standard A1200/A600.
Its not documented anywhere as far as I have seen, but just press 'A' Key on the title screen to pal/ntsc select. |
