Brand New 2x Amiga Joy ports to PC adapter (USB)

Anyone tried one of these with any success or recommend anything similar?

Thank you to you both! I will look into the latter dirkies... I hadn't realised, but the eBay price is rather expensive (with all things retro being pricey, I wasn't sure if it was the 'norm'!).

Can the Retro-Donald adapter be ordered and shipped to the US? I don't understand the German site, unfortunately. (Despite my last name)

Competition Pro USB

I would not use the competition pro USB because they are simply too slow in their reaction. If I remember right they ckeck only 12 times a second !

I do question how people notice this in games, unless you are able to wiggle 12 times a second your joystick or push fire 12/s !?

The resulting lag in response is nevertheless noticeable when playing games. Trying it is believing it!

No, the difference is whether the guy on the screen moves 1/50 of a second or 1/12 of a second later.

In most action games, the difference is very profound.

A PAL Amiga redraws the screen 50 times a second and every one of those frames usually has a joystick read attached to it.

Some cheaper games do it 25 times a second, but even then the game is faster than the joystick, so you end up with several frames worth of you dying/missing your exit/whatever when the joystick is still considering whether to send the new movement to the computer or not.

sounds interesting, at least I did not have the issue, although I prefer to avoid USB retro remakes and use the original with a decent DIY USB converter (like the Donald one).

What about this:

or this:

(I've got nothing to do with either of these)

There are some USB adapters which can also handle paddles (Donald one and most I know do not)
I bought a few cheap from the US a while ago from here, good seller! http://home.comcast.net/~tjhafner/2600-daptor.htm

also found a review on this "new" adapter from ebay, not sure it supports paddles.
