You need to modify the mountlist from the CF0: device to reflect the file system you are using.

Edit the file (NOT THE ICON!) to file system = L:FastFileSystem, then save & reboot. You'll loose the ability to read FAT disks.

Or you can create a secondary entry for Amiga FFS duplicating the CF0: icon (plus the companion mountlist), rename it to (for example) CF1: and modify the file system to the one you want. Put it in the DOSDRIVERS drawer and test.

It's more complicated than that. FAT95 automatically reads the disk's geometry from the driver or from the PC partition table and adjusts the mount data accordingly. With FFS you have to specify the exact geometry of the CF card in the mount file. And you have to change the mount file whenever you use a CF card of a different size.

If the CF card has been partitioned with HDToolbox or the like rather than just formatted as a big floppy disk, then you can use a utility like OS 3.9's Mounter to mount the partitions. Then you don't need a mount file.

I don't know if one exists which is still maintained. I once wrote one for a different purpose. It's called SplitDiskMount and is contained in this archive: http://thomas-rapp.homepage.t-online.de/splitdisk.lha
