USB Keyboard on A1200 Tower Using PS/2 to USB Adaptor?

Afternoon,

I've currently got a real cheap-o keayboard plugged into my Amiga 1200 tower.

The keyboard came packaged with my power tower, and was so cheaply made that when it arrived I had to swap some of the keys around, as some had been put in the wrong place. Not only that, but the letters are starting to come off.

Obviously, an Amiga deserves something better than that, and so I was wondering if I could plug my old Mac Keyboard into it (the white chunky one prior to the latest style).

The power tower can connect to PS/2 keyboards. However, I was wondering if I was to plug in a PS/2 to USB adaptor, would I be able to use the Mac keyboard instead?

Is it really that simple, or is what I'm proposing not possible with this method?

Cheers!

Rob

No. The mac keyboard does not speak the PS/2 protocol.

Looks like I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for a half decent PS/2 keyboard, then.

Thanks for your help. You've saved me a quid or two from my not ordering an adaptor.

While the Apple keyboard may be pure USB, there are still plenty of older or cheaper USB keyboards that still speak the old PS/2 protocol but just have a USB plug on the end, these are the ones usually compatible with USB-PS/2 adapters and a lot of the time come bundled with the adapter.
