Inside the Amiga
Hi All
As we all know inside our beloved Amigas, well most models anyway there is all that thin metal shielding. In some instances this rather thin metal casing is starting to show the start and in some already has corrosion and rust. What would be the best paint spray to use to arrest the aging process ? Silver would be nice. |

I'd at least get it out and use a some wire wool to remove any loose rust and maybe try cleaning it up a bit. Or maybe get a replacement, i'm sure there are quite a few going spare in people boxes of Amiga bits or flea bay... Steve. |

Bin it and replace with a wool shield. Keep your Amiga cosy in the winter months

Zambot_3 used some kind of silver paint on the RF shield in his rebuilt A500. Details in this thread:

My A1200 sheild is not getting rusty or corroded, it's just going a bit black in places... Tarnished or oxidised may be the words i'm looking for?
If it were an A600 i would just bin the RF shield and not bother replacing it as most A600's were shipped without the top RF shield |

The shields on all Amigas I have are not rusting inside them any more: I threw all of those nasty things away long time ago.

I had to work on one of my A500s, and the metal shield looked quite bad. First I wanted to give an electrolythic bath at a company but later on I decided to paint it. it was more easier to solve. I like it, and I also afraid of getting more rusty, so the shield was treated with a special liquid for removing rust and preparing the surface, then I painted it. Result attached.
