Tony & Friends in Kellogg's Land: I hear the disk spin but game won't start
I'm currently running the latest beta, but since I have no idea if this is something inherited from 1.6.1, I'm reporting it here and not in the beta thread.
I tried the 2 ADF versions available from the EAB File Server, but no luck. All I can access is the menu, and instead of the level I'm supposed to warp to right after starting a new game, I get this black screen that won't go away. Am I doing something wrong? I get the same thing when I try to play the game on my real A500.

Not sure why it doesn't start the level with an A500 config (same result here), but it works fine with an A1200 config
Edit : Just checked it and if you select 2 MB Chip and no Slow Ram it also works with A500 settings (KS 1.3, OCS...) |

I remember this never used to work on my old A500+ when I was a kid. Worked on my A1200 though. Just assumed it was an AGA game but perhaps not

No, it works fine with OCS, but even 1 MB Chip in WinUAE isn't enough. Played a bit more with the settings and it's not cycle-exact or the chipset (OCS/ECS) either.

So the conclusion is: just another weird game that requires extra memory/possibly 68020+ CPU without AGA?

True indeed. I seem to remember tho that there was a standard DOS version of that game without any protection which was given away for free as some sort of advertising game and I suppose that is the PDY "crack". But I might be wrong.

You might be right, because I don't understand how Prodigy could fuck up a memory routine.

I've uploaded rgen's original wwarp image, which works fine with the WHDLoad patch. Maybe you guys can make a proper ADF out of it.

the problem is that wwarp doesn't work under winuae Or else it would be so easy
to write back in an extended ADF.... EDIT : Hey, you can write back this WWP file directly on a standard drive lol I have created a fresh disk. next step, extended adf creation via powercopy Last edited by dlfrsilver; 07 August 2009 at 17:52. |

I've looked at the Prodigy version, and I'm not sure they've actually done anything wrong (I know, who knew!... Siriax the muppet!)
If its a memory problem it should boot up and say so. Exactly how far does the Prodigy version get? Have you got an external drive attached? Because one of the things this game does right at the start is to check for availability of 3 external drives (on a one disk game!?!!), this isn't the fault of Prodigy, as the original does it. |

After you choose start you see the overview map and after that the screen goes black and the disk led goes to 36 and stays green.
Just tried it with 2, 3 and 4 drives enabled in WinUAE and still the same result. |
