Hi,
do I understand it right that you have 3 Amiga-diskdrives and none of them work on your A600?
Then in my opinion something is wrong with the A600. There is one chip that controls the diskdrive. Replacing this chip may solve your problem.

Cheers,
Rick

One chip only? I suggest you look at the schematics.

Try:
- U3 (Paula)
- U5 (Gayle)
- U7 (Odd CIA)
- U8 (Even CIA)

There may be some discrete components along the way, but I can't be arsed to pore through any more schematics.. I seem to remember that the drive is connected quite directly to these chips, however.

Out of these it is usually the Even CIA that is broken. Statistically thinking about it, it handles most of the drive signals.

Maybe more than one chip.
I repaired an A500 more than 15 years ago with the exact behaviour as Lukezab's. As far as I can remember I read in a magazine about the main architecture of the A500. And there was one chip described that controls the joyports and the diskdrive, as far as I can remember.

As far as I can remember...As far as I can remember...As far as I can remember...As far as I can remember...As far as I can remember...

Cheers,
Rick

Hi,

ah ok!, is correct 3 floppy of amiga is dead, i have tested one floppy (taking of my amiga 2000), with amiga 600 and functionally perfect, but the measure is not equal, because the floppy of amiga 2000 is different.
The amiga 600 the floppy is slim, but the amiga 2000 the floppy is not slim.

I have the floppy's:
panasonic ju-256a198pc
Mitsumi DM359m3 (2 pz.)
Epson SMD-1300
FD-235HP A291 (i think the mechanical is Teach or Nec)

But the list of compatibility with modifications is not included this floppys, and the floppy-board is differents.

I hate this situations because i thinking to upgrade the program into my amiga 600, but is not possible...

The solutions, i suppose, is a pcmcia card with compact flash and tranfer the program with my pc... :-)

Or buy a Minimig, i have the factory near home...uhmmm 30km... :-)))

Thanks all

Lukezab:

First, welcome to EAB, you'll find lots of good things on this board, including a thread about how to modify a pc unit to work as an original Amiga unit.

I strongly recommend you to try "my" way to modify those buggers. Why "my"? Because it is not mine, the modification was developed from "El piloto", an argentinian guy and a personal friend.
