A2000 PSU overload...or something else?

Hi all,

Well after some time I've finally got my A2000 online (thanks to all who helped ), but it's proving a little buggy & I think it's my PSU that's causing the trouble.

After using iBrowse for about 10 minutes the machine either freezes or re-sets. When it freezes I get a yellow "recoverable failure" which then leads to a red "software error". When it re-sets the hard drive isn't recognized until I re-set it again myself.

The only thing that I've found to make this happen is extended browsing periods (10 minutes or more).

Now, the reason I suspect the PSU is the fact that I have so many items jammed into the box & only a standard PSU.

A lot of this hardware would be idle most of the time, but surely must still be sucking some juice:
Nexus SCSI/RAM Zorro card,
C= A2630 '030/RAM card,
Multiface serial Zorro card,
Buddha IDE Zorro card,
Hyrda AmigaNet Zorro card,
Extra case fan,
DCTV attached to both RGB & Parallel ports,
CD-Rom drive,
ZIP drive.

Now, with all this sh*t hooked up at once...would the power required by browsing the net be enough to knock over the PSU, or perhaps the problem isn't with the PSU at all?

PZ.

Not a PSU problem, from my POW.

Probably an error related with the caches of IBrowse. It commonly trashes the partitions where the cache is. Just use a RAM disk cache to avoid those problems.

Thanks heaps man, I'll try & make that change to see if it works

What you say about killing partitions makes sense too...my HDD crashed twice...lucky I back-up regularly!

I'll be back to ask for more help when I can't figure out how to change the cache location...you know I will! hahahaha

Also use a RAM cache for YAM, if you use it.
