Don't use pirate copies, get the real thing.

Run IDEfixPrefs and set the adapter type to the type of your adapter (not auto).

Run CDFSPrefs and uncheck disk change interrupt. If it complains about wrong settings upon saving, correct the settings it complains about.

Make sure that the drive can read CD-Rs, i.e. try it in a PC. Older CD drives cannot read self-written CDs.

both AmigaOS 3.5 & 3.9 i have bought from vesalia.de. please Correct v3.0 not v3.1 (39.106). my cd-rom is actually a dvd-rom pioneer.

I have changed the settings you mentioned Thomas. Specifically i run ideprefs and set unit 0 to ide and mount hd and unit 1 to atapi mount cd. i have installed my hd 20GB WDC200BB on port 0 (40pin) and dvd-rom to port 1 of idefix adapter. Nothing happened. still returns not a valid dos disk. I also have a problem sometimes when booting the amiga which needs 2-3 resets to boot from hd. thanks anyway

But if you do only have a 3.0 rom then you can't run 3.5 or 3.9 anyway. I'm pretty sure they require KS3.1.

Yes, you need KS 3.1 to run OS3.9.

I don't have IDE Fix adapter, but could it be that the units to use are as follows: 0 = port 0 master, 1 = port 0 slave, 2 = port 1 master, 3 = port 1 slave? So try setting the jumper on the dvd drive to master and use unit 2 for it. Maybe this works

Did you check the jumper settings? According to the BBoA their is a jumper to disable the IDE FIX interface --> Link

apparently not! i have tried many configurations. Now i have connected 2x3.5" ide hds on port 0 (40pin) and configured them master and slave.they both work fine.in port 1 (40 pin) i have connected the dvd-rom pioneer and set it master. FindDevice tool finds all my devices the cd is mounted as per CDFSPrefs but when i try to cd0: via shell it returns not a DOS disk in device CD0. i have tried 2 more devices (one plextor cd-rw which is not recognzed at all and a creative cd-rom which is mountable but not readable.

By the way. My FFS version is 45.9 (HDtoolBox) but i can't partition my drives larger than 2048MB if i exceed this and then try to format it also returns not a valid dos disk

Sorry. Got mixed up with the prog. IDEFIX. I thought that IDE-FIX97 is for A4000 only.

Can you open your CD0 file with a text editor and check if the device is set to atapi.device and the unit is set to the one you get from FindDevice for the dvd drive?

Why don't you ask Jens from individual Computers for some help? He designed it so he should be able to help you out. individual Computers

here is my CD0 file opened in ultraedit32. I have copied the file to floppy and then read it via catweasel on my pc.Any ideas? by my opinion Unit = 0 /* exec device unit */ is quite suspicious because my dvd-rom is connected onto port 1 on the idefix adapter. So i guess unit 0 = master hd on port 0 unit 1 = slave hd on port 0 and unit 2 = master dvd-rom on port 1. That's how find device recognizes my drives. 0= etc

That's true. Have you tried to use 'atapi.device' instead of scsi.device under 'Device=scsi.device'?
