Wings is it bugged or am I crazy?
I loved this game back in the day. Now I'm playing it on WinUAE and I love it, except it seems bugged or something. First of all I keep getting missions that says we've encountered a couple of monoplanes. Ok not so shabby, but after we killed those buggers the battle continues. I'm thinking ok, the intel was wrong but after I shoot down a couple more the another monoplane appears.
Im on a mission now where I need to shoot down a Gotha bomber that is accompanied by a single escort, while it's four of us it seems straight forward. I shoot down the gotha in the first pass but miraculously my three companions get vaporized, unbelievably but probably by that one monoplane escort. I go about to put it down but the mission doesn't end, infact another plane appears. It takes alot of time to shoot it down but I manage in the end only to get "mission failed" the base had been bombed. Come on I shot down that bomber in a single pass. I don't recall this issue playing this game on good ol' amiga. This copy must be corrupted or something. |

You might want to mention which ADF you are using for the game?
In the meantime try this version... Wings (1990)(Cinemaware)[cr SKR](Disk 1 of 2)(Reel 1).zip Wings (1990)(Cinemaware)[cr SKR](Disk 2 of 2)(Reel 2).zip http://www.planetemu.net/rom/commodo...-1-of-2-reel-1 |

Quote:
Wings (1990)(Cinemaware)[cr Power Group](Disk 1 of 2)(Reel 1) and Wings (1990)(Cinemaware)[cr Power Group](Disk 2 of 2)(Reel 1) from planetemu. Btw. what do these a2, a3, a4 etc mean after the adf name? |

According to a quick google search.
"If there's more than one version of that particular disk image the others will be marked with [a], [a2], [a3] etc depending on how many there are. " http://www.lemonamiga.com/forum/view...e647ab80bec809 try the other version and see if that makes a difference. |

Hello there Torquemada,
Welcome to EAB I'm sure there are old threads around here which talked about bugged sets of Wings. Anyway, you should use this set: ... Wings (1990)(Cinemaware)(Disk 1 of 2)(Reel 1)[cr SR][a].adf [CRC: B1A78213] ... Wings (1990)(Cinemaware)(Disk 2 of 2)(Reel 1)[cr SR][a].adf [CRC: 86542976] Also, don't use PlanetEmu as the TOSEC sets are horribly out of date... Use our EAB File Server instead where everything is most current Oh, and thread moved to a more suitable location. |

IIRC Wings does have one gameplay quirk - you have to stay in the air until all opponents on a mission have crashed into the deck, to complete the mission.
Probably not this particular issue, but it can lead to a mad scramble at the end sometimes as you desperately try to keep a heavily damaged (but not doomed with the twin smoke trails and flames pouring out) plane in the air until your last opponent smacks into the ground. |
