A600 Capacitor replacement.

I have 2 A600s which both have the same problem.

Both work fine, but sometimes(most times) when reset the screen goes black and CAPSLOCK stays on. It can remain like that for a few seconds or a few minutes. What helps (most times) is holding the reset keys for 10 seconds.

Anyways i have been told on another forum that this is due to faulty/leaky capacitors.

What i ask is how will i know which capacitors need replacing?

And does anyone have any tips?

I have replaced the capacitors once in a Sega Game Gear. Wasn't the nicest looking job but it fixed it

I recommend you that start replacing the 2 big capacitors (the tallest ones)
(1000uf x10v)
Both smooth the 5v line
also you can replace the capacitor or the capacitors for the 5v line on the PSU as well
a good capacitance of the 5v line is primary

The others 2 big caps on the A600 and A1200 (470 uf x16 volts) will not help with your problem...One of them is for composite video and the other is for the CIA.....they will not cause instability or problems

and about the smallest ones located on the mobo......mmm..I don't know...replace them if you see that are corrupted
