Aiab 10.6

I don't know if this is the right area or not (mods please move this if so), but I was wondering if anyone has AIAB 10.6 (I think this is the latest/last version) anywhere on their harddrives? All the links online don't work anymore, I can get on the site using Wayback, but the downloads don't work. Thanks in advance guys.

Hello there cobhc,

Welcome to EAB

Not exactly what you're after but I have a file named "Aiab-20050606.rar".

Inside the "Update.txt" file it says:

Code:
Update Info   (version r10.5)   6/06/05
~~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~
I've uploaded this to The Zone! anyway
To access The Zone! follows these instructions: How do I get access to the zone?
Also have a look at ClassicWB for a pre-installed and good WB setup
Dave, you're the man! Downloading now Am I right in thinking this was the latest version that JayBee released?
Edit: Also is this the update to 10.6 rather than the full install?
Hi cobhc,
Yes, that was the final version before his webpage disappeared.
Thanks prowler, call me crazy but AIAB imo looks a lot better than any of the other preinstalled workbench setups, plus I love the game packs I was able to find!
You need to install the older version first and then copy this one over the top.
So if you haven't got the other grab it as well
Well I managed to find 10.5, so this should install over the top without problem, right? Also does this include the Music and Internet apps? I know these were add-ons for the older versions, but they don't seem to be included in 10.5.
Yes, cobhc, it looks good and it's a relatively small download.
I have some of these packs for AIAB. I can upload them for you if you're interested. Actually, the AIAB-internet pack was uploaded to the Zone for me some time ago. You'll find it on the EAB File Server:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=43633
in "The Zone!/A" folder.
Hi Dave,
I wasn't aware that it needed that version (Aiab-20050606) *specifically*. Doesn't it install over the top of *any* version 10?
That's what I'm hoping prowler. Not that it matters since they're all small downloads anyway . I wish Jaybee would have still continued to update this. Damn, I'd even pay for his hosting! LOL!
I'm not sure - the documentation states that its an UPDATE and needs 10.5 pre-installed. It's a while since I used AIAB
I remember it looks nice and works well. There was an afos update as well
Jaybee's site has a habit of closing down and popping up somewhere else after a while. It always reappears when he is again able to find time to update it. Let's hope he's still interested in maintaining it.
In Jame's words
Code:
AfA-OS v4.0 Final - Add-On for AIAB
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This work-in-progress add-on installs AfA-OS within an existing AIAB r10.6 setup.
This package also requires the 'Lucida Sans' and 'Lucida Console' truetype fonts.
Please run the batch file 'copy Lucida fonts.bat' to copy these files.

Changes/Improvements:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- System-wide Anti-aliased TrueType fonts (Lucida Sans & Lucida Console)
- Reconfigured DOPUS settings (using TrueType fonts)
- Reconfigured Scalos settings (using TrueType fonts)
- Thumbnail previews of patterns in Scalos Pattern prefs now appear correctly
There are undoubtedly further improvements, however these are less noticeable.
Special thanks to Bernd Roesch for his wonderful AROS back-porting efforts.
AfA-OS Homepage:  http://amidevcpp.amiga-world.de/afa_binarie_upload.php
Well, that is all from me - good luck folks!
Cheers,
James
It's only 351kb - I could shove that in the Zone for you to play with. In fact I'll do it now.
Oh yeah, for sure man. I looked at Ami-Kit and ClassicWB, etc. They all just don't look as good as AIAB to me.
Sorry should have quoted, that was a reply to prowler lol. And thanks Dave, you're spoiling me now!
Thanks a lot anyway Dave, seems like a really nice place here, I'll be sure to spend more time looking around and helping out where I can! And prowler, those Music/Internet add-ons didn't seem to work properly in 10.5. Maybe I'll just disregard those right now, I'm not too fussed about being able to surf the net or play music within WinUAE at this point.
You may have been right actually. I've just scanned the documents again and I now can't find the UPDATE bit but I'm sure I read it in there somewhere
