I got an Amiga 600.
I just got a free Amiga 600 minus the power supply (no biggie, I've got spares) and floppy drive (again, no biggie as they seem easy to come by) and I'm wondering what in the hell I'm going to do with it. I've got a spare CF-IDE adaptor and CF card and putting 3.1 ROMs in it seems easy enough but upgrading beyond that looks like an expensive proposition. I suppose running WHDLoad on a 68000 with 1MB RAM would be as frustrating as spending $400 on an 030 accelerator would be crazy.
It's a cute little machine but seriously, does anyone actually use these? What's really odd is that while I can't think of a single reason for me to keep it, the thought of selling it seems wrong somehow. There's no cure for the Amiga disease, I guess. |

I have one with a 6gig HDD and 3.1 roms. Installed workbench 3.1 on it and put it in the cupboard, not touched it since.

OK, two solutions:
1- Wait for some months until I finish the A600 accelerator (less than 150 USD for sure); 2- Give that Amiga to me! I'll love to have another A600 around. It is a NTSC machine? |

Cute but an oddball machine in the Amiga lineup. They should've stuck to the A500+ at the time then gone straight to the 1200 imo.
Tis true though, once you have any amiga it's hard to let go |

You can get an NedoPC 2008 8MByte FAST RAM upgrade for $40 + shipping from Acidrain if you want one. Not bad if you ask me.

@alexh: You've come through again, mate. I think I'll order one of those RAM boards to tide me over until rkauer's accelerator is ready to rock and roll. Just had a thought. Would the Indivision fit in the 600? |

I see you are from Canada. If they do not have RGB SCART over there, you can very easily mod an A600 for S-Video. The Luma/Chroma signals are available internally they are just not wired to any connector. Just 2 (?) solders and voila. I've seen some nice mods where they drilled the plastic added a very good S-Video connector screwed to the case... you'd almost think it was an official connector.

I was mostly just curious about the Indivision. I reckon this 600 will end up as a spare games machine (I should not have shown my girlfriend how to use the 1200) in which case there won't be much flicker needing fixing and I've still got a Toastscan kicking around here somewhere. |

Toastscan is as good as Roy's scandoubler if not better for A600.

@coze: I was checking that site out yesterday as a matter of fact. My plan right now is to hunt down a A601 and buy one of those NedoPC RAM expanders alexh pointed out. I think that's the best way to go until the accelerators are ready. |

Ah yes. I remember when I tried to make a tricked out A600. Big headaches lie ahead my friend! I could never get my TEAC cdrom working.
Even using one tested by the Z man himself. I just couldn't get the drivers to recognize it. I don't even have a working Amiga anymore. Shame. When I need money I just sell stuff. |

Had it of not of been for your project I seriously doubt I would of gotten an A600 from Lopos2000, so with my deepest respect, my A600+ project is a homage to yours |
