Deluxe Galaga

I'm looking for Deluxe Galaga that runs on a Amiga 500 from a gotek. I used to have it but for the life of me can't find it.

Weird than, considering I cant find a single one that loads. They all go straight to the workbench 1.2 images

I wanted the latest version and run it in WinUAE

...but this set requires 2MB of RAM to run as it extracts the files to RAM before starting the game.

You should try earlier versions without "[WB]" at the end so one of these:

Still non of those work. What I did find out was that I have 2 images that do "work" (one I get stuck on some kind of boot menu I don't know to get passed and the other has no audio), but what's weird is that their counterparts on the EAB file server don't work...

The counterparts being:
/Commodore_Amiga/Game/Disk/Deluxe Galaga v1.5 (199x)(Vigdal, Edgar)(SW)(Legend).adf (my version has a boot menu that I can't get passed)
/Commodore_Amiga/Game/Disk/DeluxeGalaga.zip (no audio on my version)

Edgar Vigdal will be greatly missed by Amiga/PC users i think. i was one of many who backed his crowd funding project for the PC remake of deluxe galaga (titled Warblade MKII), for those who hadn't already heard Edgar passed away April 1st 2015

his memory will live on in the many games he made over the years, which i will enjoy playing on pc and amiga for years to come

Ok, been testing tonight.

In your A500 you must have Kickstart v1.3 ROMs hey (like most would by default)?

A few of the disks will load / get into the game but yup, no sound

If I use the same disks with Kickstart v2.04 (A500+) ROMs or above then there is sound.

I'm no expert but I guess there's something missing in the Kickstart v1.3 ROMs that the game needs for sound and is present in Kickstart v2.04 (A500+) ROMs or above...

Completed some more testing of other files...

2.4 is definitely the latest version you can use with an A500 / OCS / KS 1.3 / 512KB Chip + 512KB Slow RAM; with or without music / soundfx.

Stop the press!!! There is some good news, while it doesn't have music it does have soundfx using the above setup in WinUAE:

I'll try that one as soon as I'm home, which is friday.

What still baffles me though is why one ADF file works and one doesn't even though, in windows, they seem to be the exact same file.
Might be intresting at least for me, and possibly others, to find out why.

It might be as simple as the disk being formated with FFS.

That's exactly it when I had a quick look at the 2.4 version disks last night...

Going to preemptively ask this already, is there some way to undo it so I can it from my gotek?

Undo what exactly; an FFS formatted disk?

There's no need with this "Deluxe Galaga v2.4 (1994-11-13)(Vigdal, Edgar)(SW)[a].adf [CRC: 45409825]".

It's not FFS but OFS so will run on a standard A500 / OCS / KS 1.3 / 512KB Chip + 512KB Slow RAM

It should also work on your Gotek

Format a new disk, make it bootable ("Install df0:" in a shell) and copy over the contents.

Sorry for the many questions, I'm used to consoles where things work or not with no gray area and older computers (which don't seem to have this gray area as far as I've noticed).

Even with consoles, most ROMS that you download are zipped you will see a CRC column

I just tested it on winuae A500 config 1mb, works perfect

Found the issue, the USB stick itself had issues. For whatever reason it had no issues with a newly put on it defenders of the crown but did with Galaga. But the moment I switched USBs Galaga worked fine.
