I think yes, the A600 is a small A500 !

I doubt it. The 500 is missing the Gayle chip, which I believe ACA630 utilizes for functionality.

I find it very unlikely the ACA630 firmware will have been written to access the Gayle directly?
For the original question I believe : Possible yes. Practical no. |

I think that an A500 accelerator requires more logic, due to the fact that parts of the Gayle chip are used for ACA630 functionality (thus in general making it easier to produce an A600 or an A1200 based accelerator).

Just a quick look at the schematics.. VMA, VPA, E are the obvious differences.. looks like gayle has taken their place to control transfers in s simpler way.. So you'd need the logic to re-create those signals for the A500

Doesn't Mika's CFIDE68k adapter emulates Gayle of A600? At least getting 2 signals from A500 you can boot just fine by using A600's kickstart.
Maybe by using some signals from the A500 mobo and emulating some stuff could be done. I guess that Jens isn't stupid though. Keeping an universal design for ACA500/600 would be better if an easy adapter could be made. I guess the difference of the design and logic is big. |

Why when I see the name Jens Schoenfeld I have a vision of him looking exactly like Doc Brown in Back to the Future?
