New Catweasel Mk IV prob

Hi guys....

Got my Catweasel today.... having loads of probs...

Basically this is what happens..

System finds the card on boot!!
I point it to the brand new drivers.
It starts to install and installs the catw2k.sys then as I hit finish my system freezes and my machine reboots!
This will go on all day...
I also have another XP installation... happens on that too ( totally different drive etc )
I`ve even taken my card back to bare bones ( ie. no SID chip and no floppy )

ANy ideas?

What version of the drivers are you using?
I had the same problem with one of the earlier versions.

Had to boot up in safe mode, disable the card, reboot to normal, then 'add new hardware'.
Seemed to work ok after that.

Well I tried the latest! CWMK42400 and I tried CWMK4020407 both do the same!

EDIT: got it working.. need to check on adf - floppy creation when I get my Amiga setup..

Using Acid64 most tunes slow to a crawl.. if I check or uncheck a box on the main window.. it speeds up again!

??

Well I`m at an end.. I ended up putting Xp on a new drive... got video, sound and direct x on there.. nothing else bar getting the pc working..
I installed the latest drivers ( no problems ) all works fine.. until I reboot and I`m getting blue screen reboots! balls.
Now It`s either a bad card or the catweasel doesn`t like my system somehow..
I have a dual core cpu.. but I was aware that wouldn`t be causing an issue

boooo

Stainey,

Sorry to hear about you catweasel woes.

I had exactly the same problem (blue screens if you remember) until I installed 4020407 with imagetool hotfix.

This cured everything, but I had to manually install all the CAT files to System32/drivers beforehand.

Even after this, the next three or four times I turned the PC on it recognised (the same) new hardware and installed a few more components - if that makes sense.

Stick with it. It's a great card which even allows you to play with your amiga joystick using VICE64.

Magno.

Yeah.. I had one before.. no probs.. had different hardware then though!
It installs all the stuff in one go on mine.. both joyports, mouse ports, SID, HID stuff.. it all works ok till I reboot.. then it never boots up until I delete/rename catwea2k.sys

I don't know bud.

Seems like a conflict between your PC and that particular driver.

Sorry I cannot help any further.

Magno! do you have a core duo cpu ?

Forget that have you used the new imagetool much ? wondering what settings you have it on ..

My driver comes out as 5.25" - unit 0
For the life of me I can`t get it to read 3.5"

The format underneath drive is ok..

Screenshot of what my imagetool looks like.

I have no other option apart from 3.5".

I do not have a sid chip onboard.

Maybe your sid chips make the program default to C64 mode or something, although unlikely.

Thumbs up WTB: Catweasel IV

Hi, Is there a current new batch of Catweasel IV PCI cards available yet?

I keep looking on the net to find suppliers but it's not easy to find.

I'm in Australia so a US supplier would most likely give the best prices.

I saw a MSG a while back where some guy said he was from a place called individual computers and they had them for like US$129.

Anyhow, any suggestions where to get the bast prices and availability of stock etc?

TNX

do remember that catweasels don't work on vista or 64 bits environment, because there are and there will not be drivers!

Still having problems with mine.. guess I`ll have to wait till I re-install XP... see if something I`ve installed has stopped it working

well i reread the thread and i cannot help you, sadly: on windows XP i need to reinstall the drivers EACH time i want to use it (that means the whole reinstall tour, the 3 passes for the different drivers) and while it works, joystick and all, the amiga disks i try to import, 80% of the time end in broken adfs, even disks i remember i imported fine with ADFread...

Well if it`s any consolation i have a CW mk3 and it`s the most unreliable piece of kit i`ve ever had.

Anyone wanna buy a CW mk3, keeps you entertained for hours untill the men in the white coats drag you off for a reformat and install

Humm, interesting. I've run into this problem before.

I have a AMD Athlon AM2 4000+ Dual Core.

I stuck with normal old XP 32 Home for the Windoze side.

But on my Linux partition I went for Sabayon (Gentoo) 64Bit edition.

This Catweasel driver issue you speak of is only under Windoze I assume?

Anyhow, looking forward to getting one. I have thousands of C64, Vic-20, & Amiga disks here that need to be archived and passed on b4 they are lost.

i've written months ago to the producer, who explained that the specs on which to write the drivers for Vista are sold by Microsoft and they do not comes cheap, so that it's not economically viable to buy them for catweasel.

so they will simply not happen. i don't know about Linux, but i suggest you to write yourself to him, as he was very prompt in answering.

This is not true. Only display and sound drivers need Vista-specific drivers. CW drivers should already work on 32-bit Vista.

XP64 driver will work on Vista64 as long as it is signed. Vista64 added mandatory driver signing. Certificate for signing costs money.. (perhaps they meant certificate costs?)
