D-Sub Jackscrews on Amiga ports!
Are they the #4-40 UNC variety? Equates to M3 x 0.5 and about 7mm (0.275") screw length.
Ordered 50 off ebay for about £6, believe they are the right ones but may as well ask |

There are (at least) two different types. Some use M3 threads and others use something else, perhaps the UNC you mention.

Different connectors on the same board may have different screws... at least on my A600 I had to put them back in the right order or they didn't fit Some had a finer thread and some a more coarse one.

The ones on this board all seem to take the same type. I have some thread gauges somewhere but as usual they've gone missing I would think they should be the same as the ones on PC connectors, VGA, Serial, Parallel etc!
Found an A500 Plus service manual and it just refers to them as Item 32, Part 390251-01, Desc JACKPOST STANDOFF, some help that was!! |

ajk is correct, there are two different sizes used to achieve the same purpose. I assume different manufacturers use different threads.

I stumbled on this conversion table: http://www.trfastenings.com/pages/Th...version+Tables
Looking across it reads as though M3 x 0.5 is equal to 4-40 UNC, but as you say, it all depends on what was used on this A1200 1D4 board I have. I'll find out soon enough when those standoffs arrive. |

And they have arrived!
On the LEFT are the ones I just bought and on the RIGHT are the ones from the MOUSE port (attached via ribbon cable) which, as you can see, uses a finer pitch on the thread! ALL PORTS use this thread as I've screwed the same screw into all the ports and they tighten up! Eye sighting them with a rule shows them to be M3 x 0.5mm, so on this 1D4 board all the ports look to use M3 x 0.5mm, they are NOT #4-40 UNC!! |
