Can anyone recommend a Video player that works on Sonnet? I know Riva is 68k only (unless someone has done a PPC port?)

I think I have a CD of MooVid somewhere I'll try that see if that was PPC.

Cheers

Hi, I now have my Emerson PRPMC8005E Processor PMC Module and the ramix carrier. I;m sure I read on here somewhere that I need to set a jumper on the 2nd row in from the edge of the Emerson board. These are really small jumpers ( that I haven't got! ) What size are they? and where to buy other than China?

Thanks.

AMP2 (AMP2 beta can play 3vix), and FroggerNG.
The fatest is AMP2 beta

We have new WarpJPG

Installation:
Instalator say that i have WarpOs 4, required is WOS 5, so I can't install WOS version.

Solutions
Just find in install scrips text: "(set #warpos 0)"
and set 1, like that: (set #warpos 1)
After that, installers script will work :-)

BTW
If I make test on picture:
1280x1012 24-bit colour, 148387 bytes
like in the site: https://www.warpdt.co.uk/jpeg.php
"visage test.jpg nojpeg time test"

I have result on Ragnarok 800 mhz, about 4.00s
In the table on site, autor has 0.58 on Blizzard PPC 240Mhz + BVision and CGFX.
On 68k - 060 50Mhz he has about: 2.29
On real, displaying jpg picture is about twice faster by Ragnarok than my 060, but results in visage test are strange.

So Finally got BlitzQuake to work on my A4000 Apocalypse Build, after always getting a grey screen on start up, found out I wasn’t using the latest version in the end

Here is a timedemo

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y8g...w?usp=drivesdk

Not bad on a voodoo not getting the fps that I seen on previous post but I’m just happy it’s working the video shows it running in a 800x600 resolution

I pinched one off an old scsi hard drive. You often find those wee jumpers (I don't mean the scsi id select or ide slave/master pins) on the main logic boards. Sometimes they are covered by some sticky back plastic.

@trixster, I let it run for 2 hours when I came back to it it was happily still playing away

The Malice Addon of the game works OK too

So after playing with MMULibs, I think I'm on the right track with my A4000 Apocalypse Build.

here is my MedReport/ShowConfig/Startup-Sequence/User Startup & my MMU-Configuration File.

If one of you Gurus wouldn't mind having a look through and see if you agree with my setting or any tweaks I should implement that would be great.

Tim, a couple things I noticed:
VoodooInt = Yes this used to be slow and crashy if it was not set.
VoodooMem = 10 that's a little low but should be fine. Generally we set it for 12 or 13 as you'd want to give as much VRAM to the Voodoo as possible, in that if you don't need it for Spider buffers or Sonnetlib space, it's not good for much else.

Not sure about that card order, but if it works, then I suppose it's fine.
SBLive is not supported by anything other than as a mixer, AFAIK there is no functional driver as an AHI device, but maybe you just want it as a sound mixer or maybe it's just there for bus termination. There is in-theory a driver in AHI v6.7 for OpenPCI but I don't know anyone that has gotten it working, maybe Trixster in his AA3000+ on Prometheus?

That benchmark result is not far off for a Voodoo at 800x600. There is a known issue that FPS drops off a cliff higher than 640x480, which should give you something like 50FPS.

@Fitzsteve, listen to Buli, he knows what he's talking about for video players, AMP2 by Amidog or Frogger are your best choices. I almost got FFMPEG built and working at one point but needs a lot of work. Moovid is not really useful from my testing, it's mostly a 68k app with a little sprinkle of PPC support.

Thanks @grelbfarlk, really appreciate the feedback.

The reason I set VoodooInt to No, is because if I Set it to yes my WHDload games do not start I just get a black screen I'm not sure if this is a bug with the Ratte Auto Switch SwitchControl (This Also happens on my 1200 Sonnet Build)

I will Adjust the VoodooMem and see how it performs

Now I'm a little confused by the SBLive, I thought, if it wasn't compatibly I wouldn't get sound in my Games when I select AHI? but I think I have a spare SB128 somewhere

I'll try Blitzquake at 640x480 see if I can get close to 50Fps

I had black screens with WHDLoad too. It was caused by the combination of using FFS filesystem, SCSIDirect enabled and running slaves with PRELOAD. Disbling SCSIDirect fixed it for me. In the end I switched to PFS3AIO again, because Quake2 took almost days to load with FFS.

Not sure about WHDLoad, usually I use the safe-boot option of ClassicWB when I want to run WHDLoad.
The VoodooMem is only really going to be an issue if you run out of VRAM, which isn't really that likely. In theory some applications might save more textures in VRAM but I don't know if any of the games are really that advanced to take advantage of it. It's not a big deal.

Unless you see SBLive(EMU10k) in the AHI prefs and it's set to an SBLive(EMU10k) under Music or AHI Unit 0, it's not actually using the SBLive. If you have Paula 8-bit DMA there, it's only using Paula. But if you're just using it as a mixer then it's not touching AHI at all.

I would turn off VoodooMemOS. That 3 MB you can better use for textures. Also, it seems you have the powerpc.library from Aminet? Latest should say 17.13 (from git).

Looking at my MMU config everything is commented out. The mmu library then defaults to making all Zorro 3 used cacheinhibit I/O space.

@BULI

WarpDT is again something i want to look at in the future. Will take a while. The problem is that pictures and stuff are probably loaded to fast mem instead of ppc memory. You can maybe add the suffix _PPC to the executable name, see if that helps.

Not sure what you mean are you saying I should remove all the comments?

Would you be able to show us a screen shot of your MMU-Configuration file?

Well, if this works, why change it. But different cards set themselves up differently, so order of cards can mess up whether the ppc memory is still within cache-inhibited space. Or move from a 128MB card to a 256MB PPC card will mess it up.

With commented out I mean commented out. There is not a single active line in my config. Except the ClearTTx and ClearMMU line. Rest have ; in front of them.

So guess what. it may be heat causing my issues after all, details here: http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...&postcount=288
Voodoo or Mediator logic board?

Given Quake060 runs fine with Warp3D and QuakeWoS crashes, would it point more to the logic board or still the voodoo?

Here you'll find the latest releases for the library: https://jenkins.sakura-it.pl/job/sonnetamiga/
