Amiga 3000 Black Screen when fast ram is present

Hi everyone,

Recently I had the chance to acquire an Amiga 3000 and now I’m trying to fix it.
Maybe someone had similar issues or an idea what could be the failure, I would appreciate every tip Maybe it could help anyone else

So here is the problem:

When Bank 0 is populated with Zip ram, the computer only shows a black screen.

According to the manual the zip ram I used seems to be fine TC514400AZ-80

Apart from that everything works just fine. If I leave the fast mem sockets unpopulated it boots up to the kickstart screen, if a scsi hard drive is attached it will boot to the workbench.

Amiga 3000 specs:

Kickstart 3.1

Rev 9 board

J852 positioned for 1Mx4

I already tried to pull the 1MB of additional chip ram and insert it into the fast ram dip socket but strangely it did not make a difference.

After doing some research I came to the conclusion that a black screen after inserting fast mem seems to be a rare occasion ?

Best regard

Sam
