AGA - NEXUS7 Demo hangs mid way

I have yet to successfully run an AGA demo on my A1200 for some reason.

Is there a trick to playing the Nexus7 demo? I started up without startup options, then ran nexus.exe from the command line
seems to not get past that spinning light ball about 2.5 min into the demo
A1200 with 40mhz 030 and 32 MB of ram

Eventually the music runs out and there is just eerie background noise and the spinning light ball. It is stuck here: https://nextcloud.independence18040....g2Xaa54EJ9tsaY

Did you disable AGA chipset and caches before boot?

well, I guess I need to be schooled again..

Nope, didn't run any patch. Did I miss the instructions on running the demo some place? Im running WB 3.1 with the original 1995 roms. Where do I find the patch?

That demo runs perfect on my A1200 Rom 3.1 and A4000. Rom 3.0 I run it from HDD the file is downloaded from Pouet.net
This is the best AGA demo for standard A1200.
It must be your accelerator. Can you disable the accelerator?

I have Blizzard IV 030/50 and there the demo runs perfect but Blizzard IV is the most compatible and best Amiga 030 accelerator

This is AGA demo so it is not so smart to disable it

Freezes somewhere right in the middle of the demo could also be caused by missing timing fixes on the A1200 mainboard. I had a similar issue back in 2015 (see here) and the solution for me was to apply the famous timing fixes.

I noticed that the link that I posted to Ian's website in my old post is no longer working. Here is a working one: https://ianstedman.co.uk/amiga-relat...erboard-fixes/

Nexus 7 seems fussy about accelerators, I have had your issue in the past and using WHDload to run it fixed it - http://whdload.de/demos/Andromeda_Nexus7.html

So I thought this machine had the timing fixes, but the link above shows three that I have not come across for rev2b boards. I have an apollo 1230 in there.

No go turning the cache off, im looking at the light ball now.

Will read up on these timing fixes and get back.

as for WHDload, I cant load too much software now. It's painfully slow over serial. I'm waiting on some parts before I do a re-install on a CF. Currently running on an old hard drive I found in my parts bin. Rookie mistake too - my Workbench partition is 8mb and full. Just trying to do a shakedown on the old girl before I commit to setting a final 3.2 setup on a CF.

To run this one (and other Elude demos) you will need a 68060 CPU.

Some demos include a text file (nfo) with info about minimum requirements.
In general, nearly every AGA demo done in the last 20 years is targeting the 68060 CPU.

OK, so I applied the remaining timing fixes and no-go. Nexus7 still fails

Any other ideas?

Back in the day Nexus7 didn't work on my A1200 until I ripped out the accelerator board. The 68030/28MHz board had slower chip ram access speed than the plain unaccelerated A1200, which for Nexus7 made the difference.

Any of the Electrical Engineers want to explain this?? I'm guessing this is why Blizzard were able to charge a premium compared to some of the other accelerator boards? Is this because of slower RAM speed that the cards used or poor crystals?
